My partner and I recently closed our FetLife accounts. We had been members on and off since the site started. From a lifestyle standpoint Fet has stood the test of time as a free site that delivers what it promises, it's a good overall site. The best thing about Fet is it is free and you can communicate with anyone as long as you want, unlike here where we just found out we have to be a premium member to mail another free member, WTF? We have met and socialized with many fascinating people from Fet and achieved lasting personal friendships over the years. It was also a good place to stay abreast of social functions. However, I was never a fan of the moderators on their forums because the site gave them carte blanche to do as they pleased, in other words the dictators had final say! In the last few years the site has become more of a advertising outlet for hookers and internet models and is now filled with people into the age play scene, which tends to stray away from our interest in the BDSM scene. Since COVID the amount of pro models pushing their OnlyFans sites was enough to drive us away for a while. So here we are, we just signed up for the cage in the hopes of meeting more regular amateur BDSM folks, not pros! We will see if we become premium and are hoping there are more members than our initial searches indicate.

I've been on Fetlife for years. When I first joined there were definitely a lot of creeps. But I stuck with it because I wanted a place to express my kinky side. Now, it's a lot better cuz they made it so you can close your messages so only your friends can message you. That helps a shit ton. I hardly get messages from creeps anymore and if I do I just block them.

All in all, I think FetLife is just like anywhere, you might have to deal with a few weirdos, but it you don't give up, and really look for genuine people, they can be found. I met my gf on there and we've been together three years.

My Fet experiences have been much like many here are saying. It's great for munch and event schedules, and... Well, atm I can't think of anything else it is great for. It's ok for joining groups with people who have similar interests.
And I have had a few very meaningful relationships with subs I met there. I met people there who I am now friends with in rl - one of whom told me 2+ years ago to go check out this cool cage site place I'd not heard of, and that I would probably like it better than Fet.
So I did, and I do, and I'm here everyday now.

I still have a Fet account, and I still check in with "friends" periodically. But I agree 100% that the site is overrun with links to OnlyFans and Amazon wish lists. And all the 5 -10 year old dead accounts are fucking irritating.
I do like that you can upload an unlimited amount of pics, and that you can message anyone.

Overall, if it got shut down today I wouldn't miss it.

in my experience the cage offers a more mature and focused conversation about our interests, also the people on fetlife seem to be a bit more interested in socialising and idle chat than on here (or is that just me? )

I have spent more time on fetlife, and know more friends on fetlife, but I find that I receive similar messages on here, few "real" people looking for conversation, mostly just guys trying and failing at what they think a dom is. I find it really interesting you've found the opposite. I wonder if it may also be a regional thing.

Fet works for me, but I also have a lot of content posted, given that I get off on being a slutty exhibitionist. I have hosted several gang bang events through there, and I have had so many flakes, but everyone I have met, except for one guy that was so vanilla I couldn’t even stand it, has been chill and not creepers. I have a disclaimer about fake/young doms in my profile, and most of them leave me alone. So as a whole it works for me, but I do see how it could be a thumbs down for others.
