Sounds like fun. Enjoy it.

---------------------------------------------------------

As for me.. No shoppng today or this weekend.

Merch will be "on sale" throughout the "shopping season" ...and there's not much I really want anyway.

I do go in person rather than online because I like the ambiance around Christmas Time / December... I just await the thinning of the herd.

*****Side adventure from years gone by: That time about 10 or so years ago that I decided to battle age discrimination and try to sit in fucking Santa's lap at the nearby mega mall... .. I walk up to the bearded bastard and he holds up his hands, I keep coming and his "elves" (security thugs) gently but firmly escort me away and indicate I can never return to Santa's fake castle, even if I had kids with me...

Truth be told, more than take the age discrimination fight to the north pole, I actually wanted to see if those old yarns were true about many Mall and Department Store "santas" having a bit of the Devil on their breath.*****

So, where was I? Oh... Online-- almost never unless it's something I can use but not right away that I can find on Pee-Bay or Scamazon.

Other than that Cyber Monday (which should cease to exist as its own day because many already shop online all the time.. That's a relic from when the internet was younger... and slower)

But the long and short of it, if I want clothes.. online won't fly. Can't try on digitsl representations of what they're selling and with my small stature, a whisper over 5 feet... it's tough to decide which size online, either women's small, or has often been the case, larger "teen" sizes.

So might as well just go, absorb the atmosphere, and try stuff on.

Oh hell no, i hate shopping. Im working which is worse and would never willingly go into that level of hell. I will shop online though.

Generally black friday is a bit of a scam, and usually better prices will surface closer to Xmas. But some people enjoy it icon_smile.gif

I agree miki! Santa's lap is not the one I wanna be sitting in lol

All I’ve bought in the Black Friday sale this year is logs for the fire. Not very exciting but a good deal. I’m not a fan of shopping.

Hmmmm Santa's lap... Well, that day I was feeling a bit silly (had wine with supper and, well, as I am 100# soaking wet it don't take much) --and that particular "Santa" was better looking... well wait, less "discount" than most retail Kringles and as it was during a December work day. (I work nights) So there weren't many people around and whoever was there had babies and small tots--- and the friend I was with kind of nudged and gestured at the jolly old elf so off I went. He looked like I was going to sit on and piss in his lap, waving his hands around and shaking his head...

So I was thereby banned from Mall Santa's Bogus Castle.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of his elf-thugs didn't snap a picture and hang the print out in "santa's office" on the "Santa's Most Unwanted" (wall of shame) to make sure another shift didn't let me get near the place.

I had thought of hitting up the Easter Bunny that following Spring. He sets up shop in the same place in the mall. But I bet they're in cahoots and the rabbit's "enforcers" would promptly give me the Bum's rush and serve me with a Trespass Notice to boot. That totally wouldn't do.

-----------------------------------------------

As for Black Friday being a racket... According to older friends, as in the 60+ set in the neighborhood, (one or two of whom even can sign although I eschew that in favor of my whiteboard... )
Anyway Black Friday just used to be "the busy day after Thanksgiving" when a lot of people didn't have to work until the following Monday and of course no school for the kids... Not much was on sale, no more than throughout the year, and of course, by and by, ad people and others in marketing noticed the big bump in foot traffic and decided to try and put the latest and greatest gadgets (supply of 5) on deep discount to up the ante and the new "institution" of camping out in the parking lot after the turkey dinner and whatever else to await the opening of the doors-- was born.

Yuck.

I'd never waste what ends up being my longest night of sleep sitting in a car in the cold. Screw that. So here we are. Some love it and might even land a deal or two, others hate it. The shit will be on sale even more as we get closer to the end of December as it is.

... and then there's Dec 26. The "other" "in the black" day because although there are returns and exchanges, people invariably buy more crap they don't need because it is on sale.

The only thing I would go for is they slash the prices on decorations (usually mini lights. The damned things are so fucking cheesy now they don't last more than a season or two) and other holiday-themed baloney.

@Kyiv.. Nope... You're most likely not old or fat enough and likely lacking in a cottony white beard, and I'm sure you don't have a box of candy canes lying around, either.

candy canes rule, but so are red-and-green wrapped Hershey kisses... no nuts. Not into nuts, though they're good for cracking.

Nuts are OK, depending on the kind, but cracking nuts... is just plain fun. Along the lines of the crunch feeling when biting into a whole pickle.

Just sayin'
