That's quite a list, but I can't be the only one who thinks fetlife's very broad idea of "fetishes" is a bit off base and confusing. Perhaps this is a place where my background in psychology is conflicting with my kinky side, but they always remind me more of the likes list i had on my livejournal when I was 13 than an actual list of fetishes. That said, I do enjoy reading the lists of creative minded people. For example a friend of mine who is into diy bondage lists "having a perverted mind in a hardware store" and "hey...look what i found at the hardware store" among his fetishes.

I thought more or less the same thing, and was thinking it's more useful to pick one or two areas of interest (which is what they really are) and drill down there. I think it's more expository to read a thousand words about one real fetish than a list of a thousand interests.

Your hardware store example is a good one there; I've made my own paddles, stuff like that. I enjoy that, but it's a woodworking hobby. I'm not aroused when carving, I'm nerding out. The end result makes a fetish (impact play) more enjoyable, but the making and design aren't tied to the kink.

If I adjust the definition of “fetish” slightly to “what do I require to have an enjoyable and fulfilling play / sexual experience”, I’d say control of the scene, sex, or whatever.

I am technically, physically capable of having sex I’m not dominating, but unless it’s with a long-term partner who has been catering to me for a while I’ll merely tolerate the session and end it as quickly as possible - assuming I engage in it at all.
