Late night lament
Reaching out helplessly for a hand he cannot seem to find, searching for a connection with someone who's true and kind
Someone to help mend a fractured heart, to bring this man a smile, to bring to him such happiness, that he hasn't felt in quite a while
He longs for a connection, it's a craving he's had for so long, just to be part of something special, he's desperate to belong
To feel her skin next to him, just to look deep into her eyes, fills his heart with hunger, he slowly weeps and sighs
Tear stains on his pillow, he pulls it in and hugs it tight, alone again that damp pillow is the only comfort he'll get tonight
He lays there in the dark his sad longing starts to grow, at the end of a restless night, only a lamented poem he'll have to show
Written in dawns early light, he rises to begin another empty day, who knows today he may find her , well he can hope and pray
