TRUST THE MAGIC

I have been on The Cage ,"officially" since October 2020. I had spent a month to peruse before I got the nerve to join. I can't tell you how I felt when I clicked on the "submissive". Such a rush of relief to acknowledge who I am truly am. Since that time I have learned more, met people, had a couple of horrendous experiences (in retrospect, both could have been avoided if I knew what I was doing). In my naivete, I was hurt tremendously.

For three years, I've had a Dom who I am fully committed to, and we were deeply love. He continuely reminds me to "Trust The Magic" rather than leading with my analytical mind. A lesson I still need to learn. Hence, the title of my blog.

Blogging is a new thing for me. I still bring a newbies perspective (but slightly more weathered), complete with an AARP card and 50+ years of a Vanilla lifestyle. Perhaps a little late out the gate (God, I wish I had that 20-year-old body!), but if not now, when? So here goes...

My Dom and I had an interesting experience while beginning conversations with a potential sub (we are looking for a female sub to join us).

We communicated on the Cage for a bit and switched to email. We became suspicious because things just weren't lining up. She gave us her supposed Facebook page... the city where she lived didn't remotely match her Cage profile (who knew some people can read maps?). OK, people on the Cage don't always post their real locations. Where she apparently works is either 3 or 5 hour trip each way from where she lives. OK, not sure about this, kinda odd. Her job is an in-person job, if that information is even true. Then her written English was becoming more and more broken. Hmmmm. I asked her via the Cage if she would verify herself (BTW: It only costs $6.00 and is super easy to do). At the same time my Dom received a request from her for his ID (ya, sure, great idea... BTW, that's sarcasm). I found the picture "she" posted on her Cage profile on multiple escort and sex for hire sites (like hundreds). Seriously gang, you can Google any photograph, don't post your face!

Anyways, her response to my request to verify was to block both of us immediately. Question answered.

Thank you Cage for adding the Verify feature.

dollMaker(dom male) - If you haven't already, reported that profile, you should, as it smells like a scammer, but your idea that verification has value, is sadly misplaced. Verification does not speak to a persons bona-fides, proficiency in kink, or ethics. All it does is tie a profile to a name and ID, but that does not mean anything in a kink context.

I could say more, about folks with dubious history being verified, but its not my place to speak to others experiences, but rather for them to speak their truth.

For myself, I can prove much about myself, including providing references, if I had/have to, but if anyone says, get verified here to do that, I will tell them to catch themselves on, and flatly refuse, because all that does is compromise my privacy. I value my privacy, and my details, and I will not share them with any adult website.

In your case I think that your pushing for more, made them realise you were not going to be a light touch, an easy con, so moved on, and not anything to do with cage verification, but here is the thing, hard core scammers can easily get past site verification because they will have access to stolen ID, and photos etc.

Anyway sounds like you dodged a bullet, but please do not think any site verification makes someone safe, or who they say they are.

Others mileage will vary....

MsDove(sub female){Eternal Pi}Verified Account - I agree. Verification does only touch the surface. I agree that more sophisticated scammers can play the system. I did report the profile to The Cage. It's still live. I don't think there was enough information for the Cage to do anything about it. Also, they will just show up under another name. I had an experience with a wannabe when I first came on the Cage. That person comes and goes with different names, but similarities are pretty clear, his story is always the same. Then there's another "dom" (lower case intentional) that comes and goes, but always uses a particular word within his various screen names and a picture of himself on his profile. Super obvious.

Max Heathen(other male) - the Verification is a sham. ANY ID is all that's requires, not actually yours. I'm sure that scammers and those with ill intent would never do something as shady as use false ID to get a blue check that doesn't mean squat. Also, the picture and information on your profile isn't being genetically tested to match what was provided as ID so while the verification is presented as "safer" it actually puts a target on those with the Blue Check that are legit. Do a search on "Blue Check Mark Scam", "Is Blue Check Mark Safe"... it's good information to have.

MsDove(sub female){Eternal Pi}Verified Account - I spoke to Cage staff. They are working on making is safer, I don't have a clue what that might be.

But as DollMaker said above, verification does nothing to speak of someone's integrity, much less experience.

Unfortunately, wannabes and scammers have all read the same books newbies have read. They know how to talk the talk.

When something is to good to be true, it probably is.

ABob(dom male)Verified Account - We just had a very similar experience. Stories not adding up. Photos from a different Insta account. Ghosting and a block. We live and learn.
