The General Musings of a Sane Madman

Follow me on my journey through life, love, a mild addiction to Cherry Coke, and possibly even BDSM. This may be a bumpy ride. Hold on tight!

Welcome back, dear reader! It seems that so far, I’m doing a post a day. I feel like that will slow down at some point, but for the time being, you get to read my randomness again!

Today is a wonderful holiday for people to spend time with loved ones and express their gratitude for the blessings they have in life. There is something very beautiful about that, as I’m sure many would agree. But why do we only do this once a year? Why can’t people be thankful more often? Now, I know some people are. And that’s great. But we shouldn’t have to wait for a random day in November to tell people we are thankful for them, or that we love them, or to even just spend time with them. I think, dear reader, the world would be better if we all did this way more often.

Looking at a lot of the blog posts so far this morning, I see a lot of people being thankful and expressing that gratitude. It warms my heart. Obviously I haven’t been part of this community for long, but seeing so many people take time to make a post about being thankful is truly great to see and it helps confirm that I made the right choice by coming here. So to all my new friends, both that I have met and the ones I have yet to meet, thank you! You have made this experience much easier for such a rookie!

Am I the only one stuck in a “spooky season” mindset? Like, I feel like it’s still Halloween, or should be. It’s one of my favorite holidays and it goes by so fast that there really isn’t a chance to come down from that holiday high before being thrust into a new one. Maybe that’s why Thanksgiving seems to be an afterthought for so many people?

Part of this whole being stuck thing has me watching way more horror movies than one should be watching right before getting together with family that they don’t really like that much. Not that I’m crazy or anything, but how can one go from a Saw marathon over the last few days to watching a Thanksgiving parade? It doesn’t work! With that said though, does anyone have any good horror movies that I can check out? Something scary or spooky or just downright weird? Leave a comment and I will check it out, dear reader!

Do they still do the parade? It was just an example. I haven’t watched it in years.

So, with today being a big food holiday, I’m curious. Do people prefer the traditional turkey? Or do they do something different like ham? What is your favorite main course for the big meal? And what is your favorite dessert? Pumpkin pie? Pecan pie? Do you make a delightful bananananana pudding? Do you go with a tried and true cheesecake?

Speaking of, and this may be a controversial opinion, but I feel it needs to be said. We have been lied to for years. Cheesecake is not a cake, as the name implies. It’s a damn pie. A delicious pie, but still a pie! I challenge you to change my mind, dear reader.

I do want to thank you for taking the time to read this today! You’re the best! Feel free to leave a comment or even shoot me a message if you’d like, dear reader! That’s how we make friends! Anyway, enough rambling for today. Catch my next post where I start asking some very important questions, like “Do twins ever look at each other and wonder which of them was the accident”?
