Reportedly, the world’s 1st Masochist on record was named Chevalier Leopold von Sacher-Masoch. The word “masochism” was named after him. He was born in Lemberg (Austrian empire), which is now Lviv, Ukraine. So a statue in his honor of him was erected there.
Inquiry: Considering the war in Ukraine, I want to know if his statue is still intact in Lviv? I’ve heard that Lviv, Ukraine got hit. If Masoch’s statue survived, then is it now safe to go into Lviv to see it?
In hindsight, I should had visited Lviv Ukraine when I had the opportunity to see this statue before the war started.
