Tersely Pertinent

This blog is a place for me to post things to get them out of my head.

My writings give a hint of the way I view the lifestyle, both good and bad.

My projects give my hands something to do, when my writing fails me.

Christmax Time has brought me new supplies to start a new idea I have had for a bit:

I got some lambskin leather with two feet of 1.5 inch solid Acrylic rod (clear), as well as a pocket full of small battery powered LCDs.

Given how well Silver Sting came out, I wanted to see if a larger round handle would be and if there was a way to make it glow.

So this morning, I cut the rod down to a 7" length:

Then I tested out how well the LCD would light up rod and if my hypothous would work:

Now, I keep my workshop fairly well lit with full daylight, 1500 lumen bulbs.   So the LCD light is kinda hard to see.

So putting on my new rubber grips in my vice, I drilled a 3/8th wide hole about 1/2 an inch deep into the rod.

(I didn't grab a pic of that, but you will see it in the vid I posted below)

Then inserted the LCD and capped it off with one of my rubber leg caps:

(Yeah, I didn't get my cap straight, before I took the pic)

Now when I turned off the lights, that is when things got really exciting:

Here is a short vid I made to show how it all goes together:

So what do you think?
