Old Nun’s Prayer

Lord, you know better than I know myself
that I am growing older and one day will be old.
Keep me from the fatal habit of thinking I must
say something on every subject
and on every occasion.

Release me from craving to
straighten out everybodys affairs.
Make me thoughtful but not moody;
helpful but not bossy.

With my vast store of wisdom
it seems a pity not to use it all;
but you know, Lord, that I want a few friends at the end. Keep my mind free from the recital of endless details,
give me wings to get to the point.

Seal my lips on my aches and pains,
they are increasing and love of rehearsing them
is becoming sweeter as the years go by.
I dare not ask for grace enough
to enjoy the tales of others pains,
but help me to endure them with patience.

I dare not ask for improved memory,
but for growing humility and a lessening cocksureness
when my memory seems to clash with the memories of others.
Teach me the glorious lesson that occasionally
I may be mistaken.

Keep me reasonably sweet;
I do not want to be a saint, some of them are so hard to live with,
but a sour old person is one of the
crowning works of the devil.

Give me the ability to see good things in unexpected places
and talent in unexpected people,
and give me O Lord the grace to tell them so. AMEN.

I just noticed that I've been at the cage for over a year now. I joined on August 3rd, 2023. Time flies when you are having fun.

This is repost of my response to a forum post by intenseoldman on genderification. I felt that my response really should have been posted in my blog instead. Since I can't edit and remove the forum post, I am bringing it here in order to keep it in my blog once the forum post scrolls away. I have apologized in the forum where a more intelligent discussion was happening unbeknownst to me as when I began composing my post there were no other responses at the time. But I feel that as a blog post these things need to be said to show what has happened on the flip side of the coin. If you wish to follow intenseoldman's original post and/or contribute to it, it can be found here: https://thecage.co/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=5988

Thank you intenseoldman for providing a space for addressing this issue.

‐---------------------------!

Here's a question:

If genderification is such a social sin, then why does the cage staff have separate categories in the Forums for:

Femdom
Maledom
Gay BDSM
Lesbian BDSM
Transgender And Non-Binary BDSM

Are they not guilty of separating the genders and providing exclusive and non-inclusive areas of genderification? These areas are forums not blogs. Some of you believe that if a person posts gender specific questions those kinds should be placed in a personal blog. Yet the cage provides specific places for practically everyone except for those of us who are Straight and Hetero.

I find no specific forum area for those of us who are straight/hetero and want to know the mind of the opposite sex that they will be interacting with. So when we post gender specific questions in the forums, we are called all kinds of names, forced to be re-educated, talked down to, other lifestyles forced down our throats, bullied, disrespected, harassed, made to feel like monsters, our characters called into question, told we are whining or policing when we want to keep our post on track to get some dam relevant answers, told we are antiquated, told we are hurting other people's feelings, told to post our questions in our personal blog when non-straight/hetero people don't have to do that, and on and on and on. Talk about HATE SPEECH!

Those of you who are so sensitive about your own feelings don't give a rats ass about the feelings of those you are accusing of hurting your feelings. And God help us all if we end up seeing WWIII, because war doesn't care about feelings. Those of you who are so adamant about feelings getting hurt wouldn't last 5 minutes in a situation like that.

I ask you is it fair for all genders to post their questions without harassment except for straight/hetero? Since I came to the cage, 10 of my forum posts have been criticized. Mostly by a certain group of submissives and only a few males gleefully joining in and making fun of me and others. Many of my posts have been turned into battlefields. And I'm not the only one who has been treated this way. Many have been run off the cage by several of you making nasty assumptions about them and not being accepting of them much less even considering what they have to say. As much as you cry for acceptance from everyone else, you are loath to give the same courtesies in return. You want it all your own way or you aren't happy and God help the person who deviates from that. You harass them until they comply or leave the cage.

When people get offended by anyone else's posts, it is because they CHOOSE to be offended. And how can any post possibly not offend someone? It is impossible to not offend 100% of the people on the planet. We are as diverse as the stars in the sky or the grains of sand in the sea. At least in my 72 years on the planet, I've never seen it done. Not even God can do that and He's perfect whether you believe He exists or not. I've been told and I've heard others be told "you do you". Yet those same people refuse to accept you when are doing you. Liars!!! YOU are the bigots.

Some of you need to quit getting your panties in a wad when someone posts something you don't like, are offended by, or you think is excluding you when they want a reply from specific people/genders on a specific topic. And you need to stop treating others like they are nothing but a piece of shit. I have never harassed anyone as I have been harrased. Oh yes I called a certain person a Liar recently because their idealistic speech to save the community from more conflict did not match their actions. I'm a creep, lowlife, monster for doing that.

I heard this perky song as I was driving home from getting lunch today.

The Goodness by Toby Mac

Lyrics:

You made the rain, so, when it falls on me, should I complain?
Or feel You're calling me
It's all on me to stay and really catch what You're showing
It's my roots that You're growing, 'cause life is more than this moment
You are the light so, when the darkness falls
The greatest heights, they never seem so tall, no, not at all
You're right, it's my roots that You're growing
Don't wanna miss what You're showing
Ain't no doubt about You
Everywhere that I go You keep showing up Lord, You
Make me wanna shout it, oh
You're the goodness in my life
And I'ma tell you, my true
They may come, they may go, You keep showing up, sure do
Ain't no doubt about it
You are (You are) the goodness in my life
You are the joy (joy)
You're the smile on the face of Your boy (boy)
You're the flowers at the park in Detroit
Still the words on the back of our coins
Let's make some noise (hey)
You cover me
My defender, when You're rolling up Your sleeve
You're the truth that's gonna set the captive free
The only King that's ever chose to bleed
That's what I believe
That they keep trying to make Your glory fade (fade)
But I ain't really sweating what they say (say)
Ain't no doubt about You
Everywhere that I go You keep showing up Lord, You
Make me wanna shout it, oh
You're the goodness in my life
And I'ma tell you, my true
They may come, they may go, You keep showing up, sure do
Ain't no doubt about it
You are (You are) the goodness in my life
Through the good, and the bad, and the ugly
I can still see the sunshine above me
Lord, I love all the ways that You love me
You're the good, You're the good, You're the goodness
Through the good and the bad and the ugly (whoa)
I can still feel the sunshine above me (tell 'em Blessing)
Lord, I love all the ways that You love me (yeah)
You're the good (yeah) You're the good (yeah) You're the goodness
You're the good (You are) You're the good (You are)
You're the good, You're the good, You're the goodness
Lord, You're the goodness
You're the good (You are), You're the good (You are)
You're the good, You're the good, You're the goodness
Ain't no doubt about You
Everywhere that I go You keep showing up Lord, You
(Make me wanna shout it) oh (oh)
You're the goodness in my life
And I'ma tell you, my true (yeah)
They may come, they may go, You keep showing up, sure do
Ain't no doubt about it
Whoa (You are) (You are)
(The goodness) the goodness (in my life) in my life
You are, You are
(You are) You are
You are (You're the good, You're the good, You're the)
(Goodness in) You're the good
Oh (You're the good, You are) thank You (You're the good, You are)
Yes (You're the good) You are (You're the good, You're the goodness in my life)
You are, You are
Still the goodness in my life

Glad you issued this Challenge Poppet. I've enjoyed reading the answers to the ones who accepted the Challenge.

1. What has been your most memorable birthday so far?

This last one where my neighborhood sang Happy Birthday to me at our annual neighborhood rock concert.

2. What’s one lesson you’ve learned this past year?

That I can live without all the stuff I've acculated in my house over the past 30 some years.

3. What’s your favorite way to celebrate your birthday?

With cake and ice-cream.

4. What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?

A set of clothes from my first fiance in college.

5. What’s your favorite birthday tradition?

Eating cake and ice-cream ... hahaha.

6. How do you usually spend your birthday?

One of my best friends and I usually go to a restaurant and catch up on life. Or I spend it alone. This year, I decorated my front yard with Birthday stuff. Oh and there is the proverbial tons of Happy Birthday wishes from friends and family on FB.

7. What’s one thing you’re grateful for this year?

My Scotch/Irish Heritage on my dad's side.

8. What’s your favorite birthday cake flavor?

Spice with Caramel icing.

9. What’s one wish you have for your next year?

To tour Scotland, but that won't happen because it's too expensive.

10. What’s your favorite birthday memory from childhood?

Opening presents.

11. How do you feel about turning leveling up annually?

Well I've been doing it for 72 years so every year that passes now forces me to face the reality that there isn't much time left, so I better get my affairs in order and not leave a mess in any facet of life, for those left behind to clean up for me.

12. What’s one thing you’ve achieved in the past year?

Staying ahead of illnesses in the aging process.

13. What’s a goal you have for the next year?

Getting all the decluttering done in my house, car, and garage. I'm a pack rat and hoarder and I want my home back.

Also to lose weight and be 110 lbs again.

14. What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Don't look back, there might be something gaining on you.

15. What’s one thing you love about your life right now?

That I'm retired and free to do what I please.

16. What’s a book you’ve enjoyed reading this past year?

I've enjoyed reading books of romance of Scottish Highland Lairds, and British romances before the 1900's.

17. What’s a movie or TV show you’ve loved recently?

I never set up a TV when we changed from Analog to Digital. But on FB I've seen little clips of Outlander, Bridgerton (I've read many of the books), When Calls The Heart, and Hallmark Movies. If I had a TV set up, I'd be watching those.

18. What’s your favorite hobby or pastime?

In the last few years it has been gardening. I love to grow food and flowers. It still amazes me that you can put a tiny seed in the ground and eat off the results. I think of that everytime I hold a piece of fruit or veggies in my hand. I usually stare at it in wonder.

19. Who’s someone you’d love to spend your birthday with but can’t?

One of my best friends from work, Roseanne. We used to laugh for several hours after work on the phone about all the stupid shenanigans that happened during the day. We just got sillier and sillier the more we talked. She died in 2010 from Ovarian Cancer.

20. What’s one thing you want to do more of in the coming year?

Celebrate my Scotch/Irish heritage and join some of the American organizations that pertain to it. This year I've been attending Scotch and Irish festivals to be among my "people".

21. What’s one thing you want to do less of in the coming year?

Be messy. I am a perfectionist but I've gotten sloppy at it over the years.

22. What’s a new skill you’ve learned this past year?

Stick up for myself.

23. What’s a place you’d love to visit?

Scotland. In fact I'd love to live there.

24. What’s a favorite memory with friends from the past year?

I always love to laugh with friends and family. I've had several chances to do that this year.

25. What’s a favorite memory with family from the past year?

I suppose it would have to be the meal I had with my Sister and Brother-in-law recently because they are the only family I've seen in person so far this year. Everyone lives thousands of miles away. But in November my brother's daughter is getting married so I get to take a vacation to Phoenix. I plan a week to sight see as well. Looking for good deals on flights, hotels, and sight seeing packages at the moment.

26. What’s your favorite birthday meal?

Pizza. And cake and ice-cream for dessert.

27. What’s one thing you’d tell your younger self?

Pay your house off as soon as possible, then if financial disaster hits, at least you have a solid roof over your head. And never remortgage to get out of credit card debt.

28. What’s a piece of wisdom you’ve gained with age?

That it doesn't matter what other people think of you, because someone will always have an opinion and if you believe them all, you'll just do nothing but ride a roller coaster all of your life. And that's no way to live.

29. What’s your favorite way to spend a free day?

Sleeping without feeling guilty for it.

30. What’s something you’re looking forward to in the coming year?

My last nieces wedding and seeing some of the sights in AZ. And of course losing my last 27 pounds to my goal weight.

31. What’s your favorite birthday song?

I guess Happy Birthday. I can't think of anything else birthday related.

32. What’s your go-to birthday outfit?

Casual stuff like jeans and a t-shirt top.

33. What’s one thing you want to let go of this year?

The extra body I'm carrying.

34. What’s a habit you want to develop in the coming year?

Doing more artwork.

35. What’s a book or movie you’d recommend to others?

I love the Bridgerton Series and following all the characters lives.

36. What’s something that makes you happy every day.

Still being able to drive a car and being independent.

37. What’s a wish you have for the world?

Eternal peace and the absense of conflict.

38. What's a new hobby you'd like to try this year?

Gardening in my own yard. I've been volunteering at our neighborhood community garden over the last several years so much that I haven't had time to cultivate a garden of my own, but have always wanted to.

39. What's a place you feel most at peace?

At home. It is my safe place.

40. What's a song that puts you in a good mood?

Any song that I consider a love song to Christ. "I Love You Lord" would be one of those. It's a soothing love song. And even though our worship is imperfect and given to Him from an imperfect human being, He loves it anyway.

41. What's something you'd like to learn more about?

The right kind of meal plan for my health situations.
