The Culture that has been here all the time

When I was introduced to BDSM relationships, I realized they had existed probably for all of human history. Religion and Western Culture distort this and BDSM itself greatly, and if anything, an incredible hypocrisy is always present. Using codes and euphemisms, even denial can mask the fact that many people thrive within this often unrecognized subculture. For example, my wife had all the earmarks of a pleasure slave and was generally devoted and submissive to me. In times of marital friction, I often heard the words from a counselor, "She just wants you to love her." "Love her," I thought I was, and now I know without a doubt I need to be a Dominant, not some preconceived idea that we are to live as equals: we are not only one can be a Dom and one a sub at a time, but, it is perfectly fine if switching is desired at least now and then.

Today, I had flashbacks of times when my wife and I enjoyed simple things: rides in the country, our pets, shopping, and when our kids would visit and spend time with us.  Like a family meal, a picnic, a fishing trip, or a day at he beach.

The times when we were young, thinking about the future, doing these things seemed like they would last forever.

Now? Memories that I can relive alone because she has no memories. The kids don't visit family that would, too distant and aging (the ones still alive, that is), like us.

Scientists have debated what time is, and Einstein made a significant change in how we understand it, but this post isn't about that.

Time for me is like riding in a railroad car that never stops, and what I see from where I am seated, the view never changes. Oh sure, the weather changes, and it goes from day to night and back again. Care for my wife and pets is the same each minute, of each hour of each day... and so on.

No friends or family visit us, I am retired from work, and activities are redundant. Why write this?

A common occurrence in this time reality of ours is, I was unaware that this is a Holiday weekend: Memorial Day.

Time to remember family from previous wars and a friend who was KIA at the Siege of Kay Sahn.

My wife seems stable at her new level of more care needed. No word from social workers or our doctors to get more help. Without mentioning details, the current political climate is not favorable for people like me and my wife to get help.

A friend is attempting to find a helper for me who can stay with us.

Being eight years older than my wife, I am concerned that soon (not too soon, I hope)  I will need someone to provide help for me.

Recently, one morning, I woke to find one of my dogs had died during the night. Now I am paranoid when I wake up about my wife's condition.

When people ask me what I do for fun, I have no answer any longer: I am blank.

One day at a time, hanging in.

My wife kept slipping out of the wheelchair, so I purchased one that tilts back, and that helped a great deal.

The evidence gathered through eons and thousands of years of observation is that lifeforms only live one lifetime.

Hundreds to a couple of thousand years for trees, and one day

Google AI Overview
"The animal with the shortest lifespan is the mayfly, which lives for only one day, primarily to mate and reproduce. Many mayfly species live for just 24 hours in their adult form. However, their entire life cycle, including the nymph stage, can take up to two years."

Let us consider a wheat plant for one season:

Stars die, galaxies die, and for all we know, this universe will perish. The recycled constituent parts are not aware of what living thing they came from. Procreation with seeds, eggs,... may carry some mutation from a gene change, but this is not conveyed into the consciousness of the new creature.

Note to religious folks, don't bother after almost eighty years of life, this is my firm belief. Recent world events cemented this belief more firmly than ever. Jim

Hey all, I will be here, but I am adjusting to a new level of care for my wife. I hope to have help soon.

A few weeks ago, I began working on writing ideas and started a journal. The time I will spend online posting and shopping for our needs must be used wisely.

In my writing journal, I have many memoir notes and vignettes, and I will keep making entries therein. I have found an idea for a large project in the present milieu. This is good for my mind, as research and creativity have been a big part of my life.

My only regret? I will miss the intimacy of a living woman with a keen mind to share with and encourage me. My love to her wherever she is and whomever she may be; she is my fantasy of a muse and lover I suppose. I had numerous women to discuss my ideas and collaborate with, but only one lover who was my muse -- monogamous and exclusive.

When I was overseas, I wrote home to my family and my sweetheart. When I studied creative writing, one form of writing was letter writing. Now I can use this technique to write blog posts. This is my first attempt at this form of writing.

Dearest Jen,

Here on Mars it is like living in a permanent twighlight. Getting used to the way the sun looks here takes some getting used to. Yess even here along the Martian equator it is dim and the warmest it ever gets is about 27 degrees C. I can go for a walk in my special protective suit but even when the wind blows I see the dust but can't feel the wind unless I step inside a Martian Dust Devil and it nudges my protective jump suit. When the wind stops it is my job wipe the dust off the dwelling windows and solar panels. Even in this low gravity environment I get tired so I go inside, change and shower and select a MRE (meal ready to eat) prepare it with water and heat it with a microwave and disintegrate the package and left overs. It is obvious we recycle as much of our waste as posibble and much of it especially the fluids are sent to the green houses where we hope some of the MRE foods can be locally produced.

I don't like the News I see from Earth so many of the old tensions and conflicts continue. Here on this planet everyone is vital for our survival. Work for that purpose can not suffer because of petty human bickering or other negative behaviour.

Well Seetheart I think I will call it a day and lie down on my cot for the night. Strange the Marian day is so close to a day on Earth I never experience anything like Jet lag adjusting to local time.

I miss laying with you nude body close to mine warm and sweet. Kissing every inch of you as we made love until we became so tired we both fell asleep in each other's arems.

Sending You All My Love  At Light Speed

Eric

Throughout history, you most likely know that giving gifts is the usual tradition. King, Queen, Chief, Leader, and so on. When they receive visitors, the visitors always seem to bring them a gift. Sometimes the recipients return the favor, especially when the visitors depart.

When we visit friends, we bring gifts; when friends or family move into a new place, we bring a "House Warming Gift".

During some special events, gifts are given to the participants.

The photo below is from Cecil B. DeMille's 1956 “The Ten Commandments,” during the scene where Pharaoh receives many gifts and offerings.

Maybe if I do not get a romantic woman slave, I can be a slave for a mistress?

Or maybe an older adopted dog is suitable for an old man as a pet?

Some days are more of a challenge than others, and this is a day I find it difficult to focus on just about everything. It would be different if I could feel the arms of an understanding woman around me. It may not change reality, but it may make living in this reality a little more bearable.
