This blog idea was sorta Jacked from a youtube creator, or at least in part. (Aperture)

"Ikigai"

Ikigai is a Japanese term that blends two words: “iki” meaning “to live,” and “gai” meaning “reason,” which translates to “a reason to live.” It's a concept that encourages people to discover what truly matters to them and to live a life filled with purpose and joy.Dec 7, 2023

This is Marc Winns 2014 diagram of his interpretation

This is mine, around 1995 (?)

I know this concept is certainly nothing new, but I came up with this "rope" theory for my book entirely on my own without any knowledge of existing similarities.

If you imagine a rope - A center cord with strands wrapped around it. At birth this is how we are but all the strands are "blank".

We are often sent out into the world with strands that have been colored "wrongly" by others. Programs etched into our subconscious way of being and seeing. Often effectively losing sight of the core. Who we truly are. Sometimes the strands are even completely broken.

I had the idea, the two diagrams should/would go hand in hand. It makes sense to me, one would feed or corrupt the other.

*Im not a therapist, nor have I ever claimed to be. I just have a vast library of what doesnt work. And as ive stated here and there, a vast collection of "been there" experience. Also, many have told me I have helped them 🙏

This subject is waaaaay too big for a simple blog post, but im doing the best I can to explain the concept because one of my girls asked me to "show her" what I was talking about.

(I hope this helps sweatheart 😘)

*edit - it was 1990 when I made that diagram, the same year the movie with my book title came out - thus the book never got written.

Satindragon - I like the rope analogy. In today’s world you have to work hard at stopping outside influences in order to figure out who you are at your core. The things that you believe in and that are important to your mental, physical and emotional health. However rope come in two styles braided and twisted. A twisted rope becomes frayed and unravels easier than a braided one. Know each strand and braid it tight enough to hold under extreme loads. Life is full of challenge’s.

Great post Jack. πŸ¦‹
