I'm a owned and collared. The journey I have been on with Daddy is amazing...and only gets better! This is my daily entries of what is going on in my head and stories of all the things I’m learning with Daddy!

Dominant - A person who has the authority in a BDSM relationship or scene.

I would like to hear everyone’s thoughts about if being Dominant makes you a Dom. What are the thoughts about when you can actually be a Dom.

Go...

TheAnt(dom male) - Firecracker,
While certainly Dom is short for Dominant and is certainly the one who is in charge of the scene and the dynamic, but it is so much more. It’s taking responsibility for everything that happens within the dynamic. All failures are owned exclusively by the Dom while all successes are made possible by the sub. There is a very important distinction in that previous sentence.
The Dom is supposed to make sure that their sub feels safe knowing they have everything firmly under control and will take care of the sub after the scene and through out the dynamic.
I have spoke with some that call themselves Doms but lack this understanding and indeed a quick look at many profiles will tell the reader if that person is a Dom or just some dude wanting to act the part for a moment and then return to his vanilla life until he needs the thrill again.
I apologize for the lengthy answer and it was longer if that is any comfort. But your question is not a simple one. There is so much more to being a Dom than my over simplified explanation above and some may NEVER be ready to have someone else body and mind entrusted to them.

HGB(sub female){Scottish M} - Just wanted to say yesterday when I read this I had nothing to contribute. I was hoping to see what others said.
I am not Dominant. I can be in charge, but that doesn't make me Dominant. I think some people are inherently Dominant. Just as I think some (myself included) as naturally submissive.
I look forward to this line of topics and discussions.
