Introducing THE CAGE's New Identity Verification Service: Building Trust and Connection

We’re excited to announce a major new feature at THE CAGE: our optional identity verification service. This groundbreaking step allows our community to communicate with greater trust and authenticity than ever before. Verified members will receive a blue check mark next to their profile, symbolizing their commitment to transparency and real connection.

For a limited time, the service is free to all registered members. It’s a perfect opportunity to experience the benefits of a more trusted, safer community at no cost!

To get started, simply visit your profile and begin the verification process. And if you’d like to learn more about how the verification works, head over to our Help section for all the details.

While verification is optional, we understand that not everyone will choose to participate, and that’s perfectly okay. Verified or not, every member is a valued and essential part of our community, rooted in the principles of real people and real connections.

Thank you for being part of THE CAGE!

Until next time...

DomOfDesire(dom male) - I am very much in favour of things which will help put off or root out frauds and time wasters.
Therefore, there is a big part of me which wants to get myself verified. Holding me back though, is the idea of having my personal details in an another database of kinksters , which could be leaked or hacked and published.(As we all know, email addresses and other personal details appear in leaks of different organisations’ data all too frequently.)
Do you have knowledge of whether the personal data of Cage members held by Veriff will identify all those people as members of the kink community? Or will the data be held in such a way that it is not clear which organisation or a group of people the database relates to?
I’d be very interested to know the answer and I imagine a lot of other Cage members would too. Please forgive me if this question has already been answered by the Cage, or is answered by information on the Veriff website. I did have a quick look there but couldn’t see anything. Thanks. ?

Cage Monkey(staff) - I completely understand your concern. That’s why we’ve chosen Veriff, a highly professional and globally trusted identity verification provider. They adhere to stringent security standards like ISO 27001 and GDPR compliance, using encryption and secure storage to protect your data against unauthorized access. But of course no system is 100% risk-free, and some people would understandably not take the risk.

I can't tell from knowledge, But I would assume that to follow security standards Veriff would store information separately, ensuring separation between data of accounts which should be encrypted independently. Even if an intruder accessed their system, breaking encryption and obtaining the necessary credentials to decrypt the data for each account should be a hard challenge, further safeguarding your information.

Furthermore i can tell there's no information on the Veriff servers that links verification data with accounts at thecage.co.

TigerBDSM(dom male){looking} - As I publicly say often. Cage is a great site.
Good and bad happens everywhere. The more barriers a person has to overcome the more likely they are sincere.
A bad person can overcome all barriers online, however they also seek anything that is easy, so if difficult they move on. Been online for 25 years and IRL BDSM relationships for 50 years. I've seen the growth of pollution and now AI causing a new level of issues.
Always wonderful to see this great site continue to provide a superb platform to meet people.

Byrdie(switch female){rl only}Verified Account - So, the Help section says "Simply visit the verification page in your account settings to begin the process.".

While I can both edit my profile and my preferences, I can find nothing about account settings. What am I missing here?

Byrdie(switch female){rl only}Verified Account - NEVERMIND. Apparently just looking at my profile itself brought up the option at the top. I'm surprised that wasn't listed in the instructions, but at least I found it. ??‍♀️

Max Heathen(other male) - Veriff is a global identity verification service company founded and headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia.

Veriff is a global identity verification company that uses AI to automatically verify a customer's identity. They offer services to online businesses to help with:
Mitigating fraud attempts
Assisting regulatory compliance
Age verification
Driver validation
New account onboarding
KYC compliance
Veriff was founded in 2015 by Kaarel Kotkas. They work with many of the world's largest digital companies, including those in fintech, crypto, gaming, and mobility.
What is KYC?
KYC stands for "Know Your Customer" and is a set of processes that financial institutions use to verify the identity of their customers and assess their risk. KYC helps protect companies from illegal activity like money laundering and terrorist financing. It also helps financial institutions understand their customers' businesses and identify suspicious activity.

While I scratch my head pondering the purpose of gathering information on a site that no longer host personal ads, I have to ask myself... To what benefit does it do me for an AI to be given permission to collect every single data about me no matter what Country I'm from or in. How does that AI have the right to look into my birth document, Driver's license information, and everything that is tied to those? Pictures, family, friends, company I currently and in the past, have worked for? For what purpose does Cage need that information? ... And this is to prove that Max Heathen is maybe a rapist? No... Perhaps that I'm a pedophile? Nope. Serial killer?.. Nope. Only that I'm "real name, real location," all my personal information granted access with no rights to take any action... How is this making the community a safer place? Oh, a blue ✔️... I feel safer already.

I'mME - I am not saying the Cage is being manipulative. My stance is that Digital ID is being sold as benign and it's anything but. They can present it any number of ways, many don't have a problem.

The end goal is no anonymity online.

Max Heathen(other male) - A blue check mark, also known as a verified badge, is a symbol used on social media platforms to indicate that an account is authentic and belongs to a well-known person or organization. The blue check mark helps users identify legitimate accounts and avoid impersonators.
Here are some benefits of having a blue check mark:
Builds trust: Followers can be sure they are engaging with the official account.
Protects against impersonation: Helps users avoid fake accounts.
Grants access to additional features: May include priority customer service, advanced analytics, and the ability to add links in stories or bios.
Improves visibility: Verified accounts may appear at the top of search results.
Secures partnerships and sponsorships: Can help brands secure partnerships and sponsorships.
Raises follower count: Can help raise a follower count.
However:
Do a search on
"Blue check mark hacked". And while you're at it
"What does it me when companies say they don't sell your Data?"
It's like putting glutton free on yogurt. They didn't lie, but yogurt doesn't have glutton in it to begin with.

B L O N D I E(sub female) - Read the fine print, people. The verification is only good for two years. After that, they will charge you to get verified. This is nothing but another way for the cage to get paid.

jamz(switch male)Verified Account - This is a great step forward but just don't be to trusting with a profile that has a blue tick as can still upload fake photos. Unfortunately this gives the catfish more power.

dollMaker(dom male) - All this does is prove the person behind the account is a human called, whatever. In regards to their identity in kink, being part of a local community, being off good reputation, skilled, safe, ethical, not someone with a problematic history, etc, etc, it proves nothing. Being verified anywhere, has no value in that regard, so please do not take a blue tick as meaning that - as it does not.

I am very sceptical regarding second, or third party data storage, identity checker providers, in particular regarding personal identification data. Something may be secure, until it isn’t - Ashley Madison comes to mind regarding a massive data breach, hacking that led to that sites members personal security being compromised, secure and safe until it wasn’t. I prefer to manage, keep my own data and restrict it to people I trust.

Whether your profile has a blue tick or not means nothing to me, as I will do my own vetting to see who you actually are in kink, and as a person, if you are looking to get involved wirh me, often it takes time for people to reveal, out their true selves. So no blue tick will get you passed that.
