Over the past couple years I've frequently wondered what constitutes plagiarism on this site, and if it is reportable. For example, and hypothetically of course, what if:

A member of thecage were to post something they had found online - without the original author's permission and without crediting the original author?

Or if they change parts of it, and try pass it off as if they were the original author?

Or if they regularly, repeatedly copy posts from random people on Facebook, and then post them here and comment on them as if they had originally written them?

Or if they were to take well-known, copyrighted songs, rewrite them with added weak BDSM-themed 'lyrics', and post them here as if they were the actual composer?

What if they had been called out on another site, like fet for example, for plagiarism? What if after doing so the site admin decided it was a breach of the site rules, and the user was briefly suspended? What if the plagiarism was so egregious that a quick google search showed exactly the place and author it was stolen from?

I think we would agree that such a member is guilty of plagiarism, but is it a breach of the site rules, and can/should it be reported to admin here?

Hypothetically, of course.

(And what if, just for fun, another member of thecage were to copy and paste the original writing and credit the actual writer, thereby exposing the lame plagiarist - without ever mentioning their name, therefore not breaking thecage rules?)

K y i v{Walking} - How do we address Ai?
Some say that user input and format makes it original.
Some.. Most actually, artwork is scraped by Ai then presented without attributes.

I grant it takes great skill to output awesome Ai art, try it sometime, but is that new work original?

Happy new year LJ to you and yours.

LongerJohnny(dom male){B&C}Verified Account - That is an interesting point. However I am also talking about straight copy & pastes of things that were clearly written elsewhere, by other people. In my profession I have had to deal with content that was 'paraphrased' enough beyond a certain percentage (there is an actual percentage!) that it can be called original, so I understand that that is unfortunately a thing.
Yes some AI art is amazing!
Thank you, and HNY to you too.

The Kinky Poet(other male) - Good question that's how I came to the cage I was told someone on here was stealing my poems from another poetry site and posting them on here as their own work
I came across fronted out the person who no longer posts on here but the responses to my poems led me to stay. I have no problem with people sharing or reposting my poetry they just need to ask first. Manners cost nothing.
Great share

LongerJohnny(dom male){B&C}Verified Account - 2-3 years ago a member had copied a post straight out of my blog and posted it in hers. Someone else here told me contacted me via bond to let me know. As you did in your case, I confronted her and she apologized and changed her post, giving me credit. A satisfactory end, but that kind of blatant stealing is bullshit.

* Credit to the original writer given at the bottom*

Dear women, As a man, I want to share something beautiful about how we, as men, see the women in our lives.

You are more than the rhythm of our heartbeat; you are the force that steadies us when the world feels unkind. Your presence is not just an anchor; it is the lighthouse guiding us back to ourselves when we lose our way. We may not always say it, but we see you, we feel you, and we are in awe of the love you pour into us.

But today, I want to share something more—a truth that I hope will honor you. There comes a time when love must evolve. Your heart, tethered to ours, feels all that we feel, but it is not your burden to carry our wounds. It is noble to love us through our struggles, but it is even nobler to love yourself enough to set boundaries that nurture your wholeness.

Your heart has carried the weight of our struggles, and your soul has borne the echoes of our pain. This ancient dance of love and sacrifice has been the foundation of many stories. But today, you stand on the precipice of a new chapter. Evolution calls for balance, and balance begins with honoring yourself.

You are no longer required to lose yourself in our storms. You are the calm within your own center. Your worth is not tied to how much you endure for us. It is found in the quiet strength of knowing who you are, separate from us. To love deeply is beautiful, but to forget yourself in that love is not your calling anymore.

It is time to set boundaries that honor your heart. These boundaries are not walls to keep us out, but sacred markers that remind us of where you end and we begin. Without these, love can become a labyrinth of confusion where neither of us thrives. Speak your truth, even if it shakes the ground beneath your feet.

Let us grow through our own experiences, our own lessons. By constantly shielding us from the consequences of our actions, you deny us the opportunity to become who we are meant to be. Love doesn’t mean rescuing us; it means believing we are capable of rescuing ourselves.

Your love must not be an excuse for self-abandonment. Nurture yourself, not as an act of rebellion, but as an act of reverence for the divine within you. When you do, you show us what true love looks like. It begins with self-respect and flows outward, touching everything it encounters.

You are not our healer, our mother, or our savior. You are our equal, our mirror, and our partner. When you step back from trying to fix us, you create space for us to rise into our own strength. Your power inspires ours, but it is not your job to carry it for us.

The time has come to reclaim the energy you’ve poured into us. Redirect it toward your dreams, your growth, and your joy. This is not selfish; it is necessary. A woman who knows her own worth becomes a lighthouse, guiding not just us but everyone around her toward their highest potential.

Remember, love is not about losing yourself in another. It is about finding yourself in the reflection of your shared experiences. It is not about control or dependence but freedom and mutual respect. The moment you see love as a partnership of two whole beings, you transform the dynamic forever.

Let go of the guilt that whispers you are doing too much or not enough. The truth is, you are already enough. You have always been enough. Our journey is our responsibility, and yours is yours. Both are sacred, but they are not the same.

So, dear woman, step into your power with grace. Love us as deeply as you always have, but love yourself just as much. In this balance, you will discover a love that is no longer tethered to pain, but one that soars freely, nourished by your wholeness. The time for evolution is here, and it begins with you.

TopekaDom(dom male)Verified Account - Copyright is a very interesting concept.

There are thin lines of satire, free use and "sampling", as it were. From a legal standpoint, my guess most of us here have no idea where those lines are drawn. Add to the fact, Cage crosses the world and not all copyright laws are the same from nation to nation.

From a practical standpoint, you should just call the fuckers out. Something like "Hey that is a great standpoint! I agreed with it when [insert original person's name] wrote about it in [insert date] on [insert location/site]. Or one provide the link to the original post

LongerJohnny(dom male){B&C}Verified Account - Done, done, and done, both here and on his post, but it is against cage rules to out anyone by name. And he has already responded by deleting the comments that confronted him about it. So I'd say that the point was made and received. In order for it to have been satire it would have had to be ironic or at least humorous. Sampling occurs with recorded audio, which is not this. And I believe copyright protects from free use in any case. No, we're talking wholesale c&p.

Bunnie - It happens from time to time. I’ve been told my writings were reposted from here, elsewhere. It kind of just makes me feel sad for the person.
As to your questions… yes, it should be made clear that someone isn’t the original author, and credit should be given to who is.
I’ve said this for many years about all forms of media we have in society. How often do musicians or film makers credit the artists work they’re remaking or covering? Hardly ever :/ it annoys me a lot. And from that context, then doesn’t particularly surprise me that the average person thinks it’s ok for them to do it too.

Cello Trance{for You}Verified Account - When I make an arrangement of other people‘s work for solo Cello, I always give them credit. I also sell those arrangements to Cello players around the world and the Song title and the songwriter are always listed up top. And of course, when I do it, I’m not trying to fool anybody because if I do purple haze for solo Cello, nobody’s gonna mistake it for my own work :-)

A lot of times, though a musician can inadvertently borrow from somebody without even realizing they’ve done it. I’ve done that only to realize it later. One of the most famous examples of that was when George Harrison got sued for supposedly plagiarizing he’s so fine when he composed my sweet Lord. Personally, I thought that was a crock. I didn’t think that was a plagiarism… Some of the real blatant plagiarism have been Led Zeppelin. But they have been seemingly given a free ride with that stuff, I find that puzzling
4 months ago
LongerJohnny(dom male){B&C}Verified Account - I too am a musician so I understand how other artist's inspiration can inform your own work. In fact it is often difficult for a new composition NOT to resemble an existing motif or arrangement or melody. That is not the same as if, for example, I were to play this neat little new thing I wrote called "My 5th Symphony" and it goes a little like this 'Da Da Da Duuuuuuuh, Da Da Da Duuuuuuuh...' and claim that it was I, not Beethoven who wrote it. Quite a bit different than similarities between songs like He's So Fine and My Sweet Lord.

Cello Trance{for You}Verified Account - Oh, that’s so cool man I didn’t realize you were a musician. What do you play man?… You’re probably aware of jazz musicians that will often quote somebody else in their improvisation. It’s meant as a honor to the Musician. They are quoting.

Bunnie - “It’s meant as a honor to the Musician. They are quoting”… this! I love this. That’s how it should be :)

Cello Trance{for You}Verified Account - Yes, that is a definite thing with jazz musicians. They will even quote another famous jazz musicians improvisation in their own improvisation. It’s actually an amazing amazing thing.
Bunnie - @Cello, it’s not so much arrangements that I speak of… it’s inevitable for music to overlap because we have finite “formulas” that can come together and still be appealing in how they resonate. What I’m speaking of is the more direct actual cover. A perfect example is Elvis. How many of his songs were his? And how many people actually know that? And the “rules” around whether someone has to credit the original is based on royalties, not integrity.
Cello Trance{for You}Verified Account - That’s actually a great point. There were a lot of early black R&B and blues artists that were covered by white artists. One of the amazing stories is Bonnie Raitt. She set up a foundation to make sure that all of these early black blues and R&B musicians got all the royalties due to them. Back then it was popular for artists like Elvis and Pat Boone to take a blues tune, and whiten it up for the white crowd.

TigerBDSM(dom male){looking} - Unfortunately this happens and will continue to happen everywhere and forever. Has little to do the the quality of the site, a bozo WILL be a successful bozo, now and always.
When I had a large following on tumblr, (20 k followers, ok shoot, lol) I would frequently get pm's from other people spotting my copyrighted material. Nothing I could do other than confront them directly and include the site in the pm. Yes, it stops them from my content, and they simple move to someone else's content. A few times a rocket scientist would attempt to pushback. Fortunately for me 100% of my photographs, videos and gifs have identifiable metadata or other forms of corroborative evidence that it is my material.
THEN on what was the best site at the time (not fet) a guest slave found my entire profile, less pictures with me and a slave in.them. Took forever to get him/her/alien from another planet off.
Who knows what damage a poser can do to a good name. Sadly for many in.the lifestyle they have been ripped of and will not believe anyone regueless of verifiable credentials.
All we can.do is persevere and continue our life.
Now on a self-serving but primarily a warning to all especially those with no database of what is RL experience vs 100% stupendous copy and paste writing. If someone professes experience, then why no verifiable pics, vids or gifs of that. We have two superb "writers of a bdsm life" yet anyone with experience (after the eyes stop rolling) will LOL. Sadly the newbie will bow down and worship their new copy and paste god.
Been on every bdsm site since 1999, Cage is of the highest quality and continues to strive to be that.
Oh and hi to the op and everyone in.his life..ENVY, CONGRATULATIONS...

Sadly, when success happens, most just look "lucky". The observers seeing only the results and not the effort to become "lucky".
Left out, no they leave themselves out, success is available to everyone.
Everyone who puts in work..then they too can appear "lucky".
OR
just copy and paste a life and wait for those with no frame of reference to show up..AND as quickly LEAVE....since as you know from Texas..ALL hat and NO cattle.

Knowledge from anywhere is good. However if you talk about flying a helicopter and you trick someone to lend the chopper and find a person to go on.your ride..fun how the rotor tilted, hit the ground and, well you can imagine what happens next.
Hence all the unfortunate accounts of a bad first or maybe second actual meeting.
The lifestyle and life is about enjoying it with those who enjoy what you enjoy.

Sweetlydepraved(masochist female){Claimed }Verified Account - I plagiarize myself often. I was accused of plagiarism from a site called Allpoetry, but it turns out that was me too. Sometimes I post something here, sometimes I post it there, sometimes both. Sometimes I repost something I posted a long time ago because I forgot I ever posted it.

Mad kids aside, I have noticed an uptick in ChatGPT posts. I use ChatGPT at work daily so I know its nuances. It LOVES certain words, the two I most often pick up on are ensure, and rich tapestry. It also loves to do a summary sentence that sounds completely misplaced and redundant. However it is difficult to prove so I just don’t say anything. It is a definite grey area, if you use Grammarly to reframe a sentence is that sentence no longer yours? I think so. But if you tell chat to write something about, uh, purple horses and their role in society, then that’s not really yours. Except the purple horses part.

When you view a book of work, it becomes apparent if the person is just sharing things they liked vs an attempt of fraud.

Sweet Minx(sub female) - Last night I actually reported a bunch of his blogs as plagiarism and included the link to the original. I had originally called him out a couple weeks ago and he deleted my comments. He got rude and nasty and insulting and told me how he and his friends were laughing at me, that I'm a fake sub because I don't have a blue checkmark and I could prove I'm true by sending him pictures. I posted a blog about him which he reported and I was warned I cannot talk about other users. I rewrote the post generically, removed quotes etc and he reported it again. Cage told me that because he identified himself in it they suspended it. I suppose this comment is also bad because I'm talking about him but it pisses me off. That I was punished and warned but his behavior is okay and hidden. Makes me feel like the moderation is "broken" for lack of a better word. I hope the Cage will at least not allow him to take credit for others writings but I guess we will see.
