This page turning shifter romance kept me on the edge of my seat. The story of FMC Filena and Rhylen (Raven Shifter) MMC (fated mates) is ultimately a sweet but forbidden romance that is brutally tested by one harrowing trial after another. The dramatic tension kept me reading long after I should have gone to bed.
One of the things I really loved about this book was it’s exploration into courting rituals and courting magics. I loved the descriptions of how Rhylen prepared himself for courting rituals and the dances that he did for his mate. It seemed that the courting magic could compel someone to fall in love with the courtier, even if they were mated to someone else. I would LOVE to see that explored, adding to a dark element.
Really wonderful book. I highly recommend if you’re into the shifter romance and can handle a bit of anxiety. There is foreshadowing in the book that everything will work out in the end, but I was so worried for them and for what they had to go through.
Potential Trigger for me: Pregnancy was mentioned, which is usually a turn off for me, however this was nicely done and did not detract from the story at all.
The following are just amount metrics and etc. (Potential Spoilers!)
Spice - 3/5 (delicious mating scenes with partial shift/wings out)
