Imagine instantly recalling that post scene state of endorphin rush bliss with just a simple whiff of fragrance. Fragrance has the powerful effect of locking memories into our mind and then recalling them in full force when the perfume is scented again. Incorporating essential or perfume oils into your aftercare practice is a spectacular way of elevating your scene experience and preserving the memory for years to come.
Lavender Oils, like this Essentially Kates one which I just got, are particularly suited to aftercare.
Properties Lavender Essential/Parfum Oil
Long used for calming, both medicinally and magically, Lavender Oil is an excellent choice for use in aftercare. Its soothing fragrance assists you into drifting into a calm relaxed state. In aromatherapy, Lavender is used to soothe anxiety and ease headaches. Lavender is also ideal for treating skin ailments and has been used by herbalists to do so. Essential/parfum oils should not be applied directly to the skin without a carrier oil. Lavender salve is easy to make and can be used post scene to soothe all the marks and welts on your bottom’s bottom.
Lavender Magic
Lavender's magical attributes include love, passion, and harmony. Additionally, it can promote sleep and clarity of mind. Used with a carrier oil, you can anoint the heart chakra area sealing in the love you share. Another of its magical properties is protection. Both Top and bottom can benefit from the enhanced feelings of safety and protection post-scene, and afterwards to help to stave off, or lessen the effects of Top/sub drop.
Cautions
If you’re playing outside of your home or play space, ensure that the venue you’re at approves of fragrances being used. If you intend to drive home, make sure not to use too much lavender and it can induce sleepiness. Also, always make sure to use essential and/or perfume oils with a carrier oil (like olive oil) otherwise they may burn the skin. Do not ingest any oil by mouth unless it specifically states it is edible and food grade, even then, follow the instructions exactly.
