observations from behind the bench

Some things I have noticed through the years that I feel are noteworthy.

ok, so let's call this part one because I doubt I have the time to examine the entire subject.  In fact, it would take a couple of books to actually do it justice.

These first couple of paragraphs will be laying some ground work for what is ahead so bear with me.

Starting at the basics we all have a conscious and subconscious mind.  The conscious is the one we operate within daily, the subconscious is the more powerful of the two.  In that our subconscious mind's view of information is that it is all fact.  If subconsciously you believe that you are a loser, winner, unworthy, or any basic trait, that is what you will be.  In fact your subconscious can believe that so strongly that without any effort on your part, if you believe you are unworthy of happiness, and happiness starts to happen, your subconscious mind will cause you to behave in such a manner (some call it self-destructive) as to undermine and destroy the happiness that you have been working so hard to develop. When your subconscious mind receives information, whether by experience or imagination, it logs it away as fact.  When the time arrives that your mind, or your body, needs to respond to a stimulus, guess where it gets the practiced response.

Sometimes parents or authority figures say things to children like "you are never going to________" "You always _________" "You are just like __________"  That kind of a statement sticks in deep in the subconscious and, if it is continually reinforced, guess what that kid is going to be like.

Years ago, when I was learning to fly, the term "second nature" was bounced around a lot.  Referring to the proper response to an emergency occurrence, when tenths of seconds in response time are life or death critical. You don't have time to think. There is no time to look in the flight manual to figure out why the airplane is suddenly upside down and how to turn it back upright, those inputs had better be automatic or you are going to stick that airplane in the ground like a dart. Through repetition and imagining yourself in that emergency situation while you are seated in a comfy armchair you feed your subconscious the information it needs to react instantly.

There was a test done at a university some years ago, there were two groups one group went to the gym once a day for an hour and shot baskets from the free throw line.  The other group sat at the free throw line and imagined themselves shooting baskets and making them.  At the beginning each group shot baskets and the scores were recorded.  At the end of the trial period they again took the test and the researchers found that the levels of improvement were nearly identical.

What you believe is what you experience/become when you are put to the test.

So now, let's talk about some control here.

Mind control, as mentioned previously, is real, is dangerous, can be done clandestinely, can cause any number of responses like mass suicide (see the jonestown tragedy in the '70's), this is accomplished usually over a very long period of indoctrination under the control of an individual with perceived absolute power, like a cult leader or an abusive partner.

However...

If the person doing the mind control is you, controlling yourself, you probably have nothing to fear.

There has been an upsurge in the BDSM community in recent times about hypnosis, or more precisely erotic hypnosis.  Hypnotists have been accused of being charlatans, con men, shysters, evil, purveyors of demonic possession, and the list goes on and on.  There have been numerous books written on the subject from how to manuals to case histories.

There are also a number of erroneous beliefs about it, such as a hypnotist can make you do crazy stuff etc.  Patently untrue.

The actual truth is that you hypnotize yourself, you are not under anyone else's power unless you allow yourself to be.  I have been a practitioner and student of hypnosis since I was in my teens and what happens in hypnotic induction (placing someone in a trance) is that the hypnotist guides the subject past their conscious inhibitions and into a place where the subconscious is in control and communicating through the conscious and can elicit physiological responses in the body.

Psycho-somatic illness, "it's all in your head" kind of illness, may well be imagined but the somatic (body) response is very real to the sufferer.

Psycho-somatic healing is also a very real, although a seldom explored, method of recovering from illness.

Fear, while totally emotional in origin can have crippling effects on an individual (frozen in place) in times of stress.

Men and women alike are capable of erotic fantasy and the response it brings about in the body.  They can do that to themselves quite readily and do so quite often if you could get them to tell the truth about it.

The above few lines illustrate the power that the mind has with a suggestable subject.  For a "tist" to take someone outside of themselves and their hangups and get them to respond to suggestions that will bring about the physiological responses desired in erotic hypnotism requires patience, and time.  it is all uncharted territory for the beginner and there are alway concerns about the fables I mentioned about being made to do something humiliating in front of a crowd.  You can see a number of these types of things on youtube if you look for it.  I have to say that my experience says that those who orgasm on stage, on command to do so, would probably be ok doing something similar without the benefit of hypnosis.

Take the stigma of fear out of the equation and you can truly have some fun with it.

Part 2 is coming if part 1 gets any response of interest.  In part 2 I will talk about some practical and erotic applications of suggestions and triggers which can be placed and will provide some startlingly pleasant results.
