Why

3 years ago. June 4, 2020 at 7:22 AM

I spoke to a friend yesterday here husband was working abroad at the start of the pandemic, he never got home before the lock down, 5 months since she has last seen him - they only have been married 12 months.

People are suffering, people are dying, people are grieving, but unable to pay their last respects.

Violence erupts over the senseless death of a man worldwide.

People look to gain political points based on criticism.

We are in such a delicate balance at the moment.

I have seen some of the worst humanity has to offer, I have witnesses institutionalised racism.

All I ask is why, why does a death or crisis need to happen before peoples voices are heard.

Why is is that Politicians want to score points by attacking each other rather than seeking a uniformed response today's problems.

Yes I agree that #blacklivesmatters but I also believe #alllivesmatter.

We all have a responsibility to be actively anti racist.

But this conversation has been going on for some many years, will I ever see it change?

Ok rant over

Lion(dom male){Hazel Eyes} - Well it seems it takes a tragedy to have change. I worked in fire prevention, through out history it took a tragedy to create and enforce codes to insure life safety. I guess its way past time that we create and enforce laws to protect lives, not just talk about it.

FloraDragon(dom male){Roaming Wi} - I used to wok in social care and lectured on child protection, many years ago following a high profile case a commission was set up to investigate, new guides were issued, the failings identified and I promptly with the team came up with new training - focusing of communication between agencies. Low and behold a second case 10 years later occurred... another commission was set up that came to the same conclusions, nothing had changed. I agree with what you said thank you.

AngelBunny - I don't understand either why as a society we don't think more about prevention. People don't seem to understand we are all connected and there is a ripple effect if one part of our society is suffering.

FloraDragon(dom male){Roaming Wi} - I used to work on child protection plans and social/life skills for at risk young people. I see now that the system is still going around in circles focusing on procedures and not the client. In some countries when you have an individuals who are quick to apportion blame and not self reflect they then perhaps will realise that world does not revolve around them. There is a simply way forward treat every one the way you want to be treated, and talk. Thank you for the message.
