There are times when I am scared,
Moments when I don't know where to go,
Pulled this way and that,
Pressures, demands in this world we call our own.
So I am scared to move,
Where putting one foot in front of the other requires a deep breath.
There feels nothing around me an emptiness,
I can't look down.
I curl as a hedgehog - small nose to tail,
Vulnerable bundle waiting for the inevitable,
Waiting for the the wheels of my burdens to crush me.
Born out of this fear,
Fate throws me to you.
Caught in the safety net of your love, care and warmth.
My confidence begins to flourish,
Erupting like a seed in spring.
I step forward with out the breath,
Knowing your arms are there spread out below me.
Ready for when I fall.
Lifting me back to my feet,
Where I belong,
With you.
