It's hard to let go and let love in,
when there are bits of dark and doubt hiding on the other side.
When you find someone, you open that door, by just a crack.
Caution weighs heavy on the scales, and trust is just a feather.
And really, is there anything scarier
than a door that opens just a crack?

Literate Lycan(dom male) - I concur. It’s the hint of the unknown.

The door is opened just a crack but what will be on the other side - friend or foe, love or loss? Scary because you do not know.

Opening the door all the way, at least you can see if there is a monster on the other side and the fright is over. Or if you get the love in the end!
