Spirituality and Dominance

My life is one of three fold. Spirituality...martial arts...and BDSM/Kink. It’s difficult to make the three very different things mix together in perfect cohesion. But yet everything smoothly moves in harmony. This blog is dedicated to the harmony that is my life. I hope it may help those who are spiritual and kinky and I hope it entertains those and possibly educates others too.

It is rather interesting where lines of similarity can be drawn between two seemingly different things that at first glance may appear to have virtually nothing in common and yet almost everything has a commonality somewhere along the line.

For over a decade I have practiced various martial arts. Among the styles was jujitsu. (Most know of the art and I have a feeling there are more than a few practitioners in here as well, so I don’t think I’ll have to explain it 😉). Being able to contort and grapple and manipulate the human body while nearly being controlled yourself is an art all of if it’s own. Jujitsu focuses the mind and body on how best to use the body’s joints and limbs to bend and twist a person to the near limit without inflicting long lasting harm. It is a powerful and effective art. I began using jujitsu in my bdsm lifestyle. I learned how far the body can bend before pain can result in injury. I learned great arm and leg locks that can be converted into rope tying positions. In my aspect of BDSM which teeters around mid-core sadism and masochism; the pain inflicted upon the body I learned where pleasure and pain mix. How I can inflict pain that causes pleasure. I learned it was a very fine line but I found great pleasure in walking that line...and even greater pleasure in experiencing my submissive’s pleasure. When in combat I felt a heart pounding joy and pleasure and in fact it was not completely unlike the pleasure of inflicting pain during bdsm. It’s a fine line but when walked, you can see the commonalities between martial arts and bdsm...between combat and sex.

MstrJ(switch male){~ENM~} - Excellent post!! I'm hoping to take a few more steps into martial arts as I'm looking to gain more mastery over myself. Taking those skills learned in one area and applying it somewhere else. It's so useful and important.

DominantDragon(dom male) - What martial art(s) are you planning on pursuing?

MstrJ(switch male){~ENM~} - At this point I have begun learning about Wade-ryo and Thai Chi. I'm just barely getting started though and I haven't really found a way to learn the proper form. I have been going onto YouTube to look up routines and the forms but I find it challenging to know whether I'm doing it correctly or not.

That's a huge part of my struggle because I don't want to ingrain into myself the wrong way of learning these motions. If my technique is flawed then no matter how hard I try I will always be flawed in my form.

So I have barely dipped my toe into the field and I am still looking for a good instructor that I feel like can explain things to me in a way that I understand. But I am just working at what I can little by little.

DominantDragon(dom male) - Keep going, don’t worry too much about the flaws of your forms yet. Start with basics in facts I have a few great videos I used back in the day that I’d be happy to send you if that would help?

Literate Lycan(dom male) - Esvaerdarnn, if you don’t mind. I would recommend either focusing on one or the other (I believe you mean Wado-ryo or Tai Chi Chuan) - but not both. And from my perspective, I’d recommend learning and practicing Wado-ryo before getting into Tai Chi. If you are just beginning, the one will give you a foundation in stances and movements enough to learn the other later. From what I know of Wado-ryo it incorporates jujutsu as well. It has been my experience that individuals who focus on numerous styles and techniques at one time tend to become jack of many styles but master of none. A solid foundation in one art gives you a spring board to learn more. Also, good Tai Chi taught properly is more advanced than Wado-ryo and as such you’ll need the foundation the ryo will provide to learn the form and applications effectively.

MstrJ(switch male){~ENM~} - That is exceptionally helpful advice!! As I am a complete greenhorn having the guidance from those that have more experience than I do is always a great benefit. Yes I apologize it is Wado-ryo, and it's interesting that there are all different levels of difficulty with each different style. In many ways I am working towards improving many different skills all at once, so I am becoming a general jack of all trades. Although for the purpose of actual mastery I should take my time and focus on a single form. I will redefine my focus on Wado-ryo and begin there. I am still working on building my confidence in many areas, I just need to make sure I take my time so that I am learning the correct things. Thank you so much Lycan for the wonderful advice. If you have any other bits of advice I would love to hear what you have to offer. I hope you have a wonderful day!

mab{Thiers } - It works quite well for a sub too. I find it really fun to sprinkle a few moves to get me out of tight spots with a partner.

Equally, apply the right move or the right amount of pressure and I know I've lost!
