My reply keeps not showing up... maybe the third time retyping my thoughts will be the charm...

Yes, adult bookstores, adult movie theatres, adult arcades, adult shows, adult clubs, and other adult spaces still exist all over the world!

These things are DISTINCTLY different from the mostly vanilla "spice up your sex life" sex toy/lingerie stores and the relatively tame "entertainment" geared at bachelorette/bachelor parties and strip club patrons.

Know that even if you go to one, you may not necessarily be able to access all "activities and happenings" if those who run it have any reservations about you. These places are often not well advertised or known because they don't want to be. They take discretion and not having snitches, the proverbial Karens, and law enforcement around seriously and err on the side of caution.

Well worth the effort of finding them. And some of them are not always in the same place and some require a password or other code of sorts to get in. Some are more straightforward in terms of permanent location and ease of access.

Yes, they do exist. squirt.org is an ap originally designed for locating such places. It's a mostly gay ap, but the places listed are not exclusively gay. In Oregon, having sex in an arcade is legal. The local arcade in my town shares a parking lot with the state police precinct.

We have one adult themed book/video store here in my town but I've never been in there, honestly. Always felt kind of weird, especially since I'd be interested in BDSM porn and I didn't want to be judged by asking for it. I THINK it's still open. There are a couple of adult novelty/toy stores though, and I think they carry some videos/literature as well but again, I've only been in there once or twice so I don't know.

No "Jerk Off Parlors" here, though. I do remember going into one in San Francisco once, on Broadway, a long time ago when I was younger, and to be honest I thought it was kind of lame. You just go in to a little booth, drop some quarters in, and a panel slides up and you get to watch a nude dancer gyrate in front of you through a window. I didn't find it particularly arousing; I mean I WOULD have probably, in a different environment, but it just felt so...I dunno, seedy and kinda gross.

So many of these places, especially the "video" places, are not for watching videos. They're meetups/hookups/gloryholes.

The proprietors will look the other way if you keep putting tokens into the machines. Each place has its own etiquette rules. Sometimes, a trashcan in the doorway holds open the curtain to let people know you're "open for business." Sometimes, there are even more esoteric rules. If you look up your hometown Reddit or Fetlife, chances are you will find your local friendly degens talking about the rules of the road for your local venue and how to have a good time.

The "arcades" usually refer to video booths; you typically find couples up to no good here. Still, there are many opportunities for group and humiliation/degradation play. I've watched people do all kinds of entertaining things. Navigating whether something is okay can be difficult in a video arcade, so it's really important to know the rules of the road before you go. You can also make a friend who works at the adult store/arcade and can clue you into what's up so you don't come off as a cunt/creep.

And Steellover, you need to find a nice girl who orders you to go into one of these places to buy these things for her amusement. You'll never get over it, but she definitely will enjoy it πŸ˜‚

Aradial,

I'm so glad you stepped up and explained. I was going to do it in detail but you have done such a good job. ☺️

And the last part, I second that for steellover. I have been wanting to help him some kind of way but not overstep.

i look at these kind of places as survived relics of the past. In my experience (there was a point in my live where i went to them frequently), the vast majority of the people going to these places are guys looking for sex with guys. i suspect many, if not most?, are guys on the DL. i very rarely saw a woman in any of the actual "booths" or "arcades," and the only time i saw a woman, she was accompanied by a man and they'd have sex in a booth. my sense was that a male/female couple had an exhibitionish intent/goal/energy about them, guys would flock to watch.

As for "seedy?" Yeah, with the multitude of guys masturbating, there is a coating of 'seed' on many surfaces, so these places are quite literally "seedy"

A lot of what's going on in there is DECIDEDLY gay and bisexual. You'll see a couple where the female partner and a stranger are blowing the male partner, or the couple is servicing male strangers, or the female partner is "forcing" her male partner to "take a real cock" (and if I see that I always give my sister a thumbs up) from a "real man." Some men really get off on having their female partners have sex/service randoms; this isn't as common, though (which surprises me!) The explosion of poly/swinger/enm culture among the straights has led to more of them showing up in these spaces, so some of them can get a little upsetty spaghetti if they walk by "the wrong" booth where it's just MLM action, which is pretty shitty.

I'm on the West Coast, but we also had a video arcade out at a mega sex store in Texas, and people got up to similar shit there. I was introduced to them by a woman in a queer bar almost 20 years ago; she was an exhibitionist and got off on masturbating and not letting the men touch her - such a queen.
