sissyfication in reproducing mysogyny

Hey y'all,
i've been thinking about this topic for a couple of years already and wanted to collect my thoughts about it and would love a conversation about it.

Disclaimer:
I dont wan't to shame anyone for their kink, neither do i want you to stop doing what you like.
also im sorry for my bad english

I'm coming from a place where sissyfication was a gateway for me to explore gendernorms and roles.
I started wearing cages and panties at first. That developed into me wearing overall more feminine read clothing.
It was an exciting journey and the tingle i had, when i put on those clothes and started watching sissy hypno videos was just amazing.
But right now I'm actively exploring the origins of my kinks, which is sometimes fun sometimes not.

With sissyfication it was rather obvious for me: Well I'm trans*
But developing my knowledge and beliefs over genderqueerness more frequently the thought: "What am i doing here?" crossed my mind.
When i was out to my family and friends, the clothes (which were a big part of sissyfying myself) didnt differ anymore from my sessions to my day to day life. Hence a bit of the "uhhh this is secret and mysterious" excitement got a bit lost, yet i felt liberated and more like myself.

My understanding is that sissyfication explicitly uses "hyper-femininity" as a tool for humiliation. And just very zoomed out, isnt that reproducing mysogyny? femininity = humiliating?
I understand that some people also practice sissyfication in a more positive way like seeing it as a kind of care of the dom to apply make up and giving the sissy pretty clothes etc.

But still isnt that reinforcing and shaping how we perceive femininity in our minds?
I'd say for me it was.
(And since I'm also really into conditioning i used a lot of hypno videos and audios , which probably also manifested my image of femininity (especially at a young age) in this hyper feminine way.)

In Germany sissyfication is often called TV-Erziehung or Transvestiten-Erziehung which i'd rougly translate to tranny-education. Which shows imo pretty well the origin of this practice.

Maybe im also lacking experience, since i mostly did it with and by myself, if so please enlighten me.
I genuinely want to explore how this kink developed in me icon_smile.gif

I'm curious on your thoughts about this ^^

Great topic. I’ve wondered about this a lot over the years. I think it’s good to continuously question whether misogyny is at play. At the same time I think there are two factors worth considering that kind of reframes it.

1. Usually, when one is being feminized or sissified, they are blatantly taking on one or some of the most submissive stereotyped roles of women. The Roles that most women would even find humiliating. If your feminization training involved you becoming a dominatrix, I don’t think it would satisfy the humiliation Kink. Likewise, if a man wanted humiliation but not feminization, they take on the most demeaning and extreme stereotype of a weak pathetic man. But it wouldn’t be misandrist.

2. I think a lot of the thrill of playing around with gender roles at various extremes is in some ways, leaning into the absurdity and somewhat arbitrary nature of gender roles in general. We know our expectations that our society, and community have for us. This allows us to explore what it may feel like to completely, “fail” those expectations. Face those insecurities and fears.

That said, it’s good to tread carefully. Especially sense, although you may not be coming at this in a mysognist way, there is possibility that the creators of the content we consume and the others we engage with are being encouraging it.

Really glad you started this topic!

I understand what you mean, maybe i would rephrase, or add to what i said as sissyfication focuses on stereotyped roles of women, not on womenhood in general.
The comparison with men i'd say doesnt really apply, because the structural discrimination of women is vastly more severe, then of men, if there is any at all.

Well that sounds interesting just making sure i understood it right: Since the roles played in sissyfication are so absurd, it makes the fact more visible, that gender roles are somewhat made up? Something like that?

Well but if i can't differ for me if the creator of any media protrays mysogyny, am even unsure about it, i think i would find my distance to it... (that thought is not done yet)

Yeah, your critiques of my points are fair. I’m definitely not 100% on them. Just trying to give a charitable way to look at it.

Actually really cool to see this come up on thecage, honestly, it's definitely an important subject I feel.

I'm in the camp that sissification/feminization are misogynistic kinks in how they're presented, yeah. For me, it's a matter of what's actually being.. done in the act, and crucially, why what's being done is separated from similar kinks. Like, example - feminization typically includes a particular type of clothing (dress, wig, makeup, heels), but this is simply a "uniform". Alright, so you remove the clothing aspects. Then next, feminization typically includes being "forced" into it or tricked/manipulated/coerced, this is realistically just CNC or blackmailing, which are unique, separate kinks as well. So we're left with "feminization" really just being about being... helpless? Weak? There's no healthy correlation here with women. Especially if the sub considers this kink to be adjacent to humiliation (as though it's humiliating being a woman vs. being a man).

From personal experience, very few dommes are into feminization as well, which is interesting. Those who are typically just enjoy humiliation/degradation and if these things do make the sub feel humiliated/degraded then it's an effective avenue, but I've never had anyone say "I prefer that you do feminization", in fact, plenty have said the opposite.

IMO a lot of the kink is honestly better understood to be an interest in restrictive clothing? Like, what do heels do? They make it hard to walk. Dresses and corsets make it hard to breathe. "Manners" restrict your actions. Makeup is fragile and requires maintenance. These aspects can all be enjoyed without associating those feelings with women. Good thread, ty OP.
