Do you think that the Cage staff should use members in their Magazine Section?

Out of curiosity, I would like to know how many people here on the cage would like to see more members being added to the Magazine on the site?

I know that there is a section that we can add our stuff under "Erotica & Confessions". What I am asking is more for the "Let's Get You Started" and "Information and Resources" sections.

I personally thing that it would be better to have actual members of the site along side so that people can reach out to the people and ask questions. We have some really experienced people that I think would be good adds to those sections and would greatly help the community.

What are your thoughts?

The main problem is vetting those who would want to be in the mag.

Let's face facts here: We all have screen names mainly to be anonymous. Those that are highlighted in the articles are big names in the BDSM world. Just being on this site does not mean they really know their shit.

Maybe Cage might add a "Fans Section" to the mag. But something like that would mean spending resources (Time & Money) to see if people are not talking out their anal plug.

I believe you are overthinking it. Big Names in the BDSM world doesn’t mean they know everything. Look at Evie Lupine, who had 7 years under her belt when she was put in 3 years ago. Does she know stuff. Yep. But does she know more than someone with 20 or 30 years of experience in the scene? Nope.
They got to be big names because they advertised themselves. That’s it. Besides, you aren’t going to be able to have them answer questions here now are you?

And as far as vetting people. Well they can do that by the blogs that people post. I am sure that they have been around long enough to know what is BS and what isn’t. (I hate to say it but, unless you’re new you can smell it a mile away). And you know they are reading the stuff because they put likes on posts like this one.

I have seen some amazing information! Wonderful blogs, conversations in chat, that as a submissive have helped me reconnect, heal and refocus.
So yes, I would love to see those bringing thjs foundational lifestyle teaching have a voice.

I can see value added. As you posit, there are members of this fine community and website who have been experiencing life for decades and have very informed perspectives. Many write very eloquently with an educational edge. Perhaps in line with Topeka, anyone desiring to publish an article in the online Magazine might have an avenue to submit for consideration. The Cage staff can sort through the articles and any that meet their standards they can publish. Granted, some submittals might not be accepted because . . . well, they suck (and not in a good way). But that's pretty much how the outside world of publishing goes. So yes, I think it bears merit.

They have used some names years ago, but not their real names for privacy, but for those who wanted to. Everyone is treated fairly. No one's trying to be famous; if anyone does, they do it from the heart to help others.

I tend to agree with aspects of both viewpoints, but I lean more toward maintaining a distinction between community participation and educational resources.

Topeka makes a valid point that being a member of a community does not automatically make someone qualified to educate others. Communities are constantly evolving, and popularity, longevity, or visibility do not necessarily equate to expertise. Educational content carries a responsibility to be accurate, balanced, and accountable.

At the same time, I understand Eros’ argument that some members possess a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge that can benefit others. Lived experience has value and often sparks some of the best discussions within a community.

For me, however, those are two different roles. The strength of a community lies in its members sharing experiences, perspectives, questions, and support. The strength of an educational or resource section lies in providing curated information from individuals who have chosen to take on the role of educator, facilitator, writer, or subject matter expert.

As someone who works in education and quality-focused environments, I have learned that discussion and education are not always the same thing. Discussion encourages exploration and personal viewpoints; educational resources are expected to provide guidance that is consistent, reliable, and less influenced by individual bias.

I would absolutely support member spotlights, interviews, guest articles, success stories, or community perspectives being featured. However, I think the core “Let’s Get You Started” and “Information and Resources” sections are strongest when they remain curated and educational in nature rather than becoming extensions of community discussion.

In my view, the community itself is already the place where members shine. The magazine and resource sections serve a different purpose, and maintaining that distinction helps preserve the value of both.

Thank you for a shorter post! I have a tough time with huge walls of them- even if i write it- i shorten it several times. Bottom line people skip them. I am quite sure everyone realizes there is no fame to he had on the Cage. They have to build that path in the form of a somewhat known educator (even then no more than a professor or a sea of authors). Not “famous” internationally or continentally. We have had members be published on kindle.
