Legacy Accounts

I'm game.
Maybe give us a gold coin symbol or a crown

I wish there was a way to earn a legacy account or lifetime membership. That would be awesome.

Like "buy 10 years, get the rest for free"?

That leaves me out. Lol. I can never afford to spend money on something extra like that.

Or maybe a contribution criteria?

I dunno what it would look like.

The problem with acquiring such an account, would be everybody would expect me to get one.

@FluffyPuppet : Legacy means one is around longer than expected. Can't buy years (or sell them, either, unfortunately)

It's the same as my old prepaid phone account (I can only text anyway) that came with the Nokia 595 I bought in the good old days of the "candy bar" phones and butt-dialing... But it's called a T-Mobile Legacy Account" with "gold status". Prepaid minutes don't expire for 1 year from date of purchase if not used up.

Everyone else required a reload every 90 days, otherwise whatever you don't use goes away.

Side Note: I successfully converted that account to my trusty spare smart phone, a perfectly good iPhone 7. (I am way too fucking cheap to buy the latest and greatest of anything)

Alas, I digress. So you cannot "earn" legacy member status.

But speaking for myself as one who has a legacy account-- you really aren't missing a hell of a lot.

The "Free" member level comes with most of this site's features.

To be honest I only use "Bond" -- rarely at that. If the "complimentary premium" went away I would hardly notice except there would be no more "star" beside my name on here as opposed to the "little person" icon for normal members.

I don't know why some people are making a big deal out of this, but I get what you're saying lol. You're approaching it from an angle of respect/recognition. People who have been here for a long time, however that would be measured, the same way that other platforms have done in the past. On Reddit you get badges for certain things including how long you've had an account. Could be cool.

Badges and stuff like that are OK and they use them somewhat in Fartbook, wherin if one is a prolific poster they get a little line under their name or avatar that proclaims that they're a "Top Contributor"

Time Served alone doesn't cut the cheese.


For example, There's a dude I "met" in here maybe 5 years ago with whom I actively converse with off-platform who never posted so much as "Boo!" on the forums. He has been a member in here for many moons but also has not logged in here for about as long.

Hell of a nice guy, I thoroughly enjoy our messaging, but as far as longevity badges, I'd write to him, "You don't get Jack!"
