Serious?

Mutters something about no fucking way.

Serious is a subjective term. Someone can have a long term casual relationship or someone can have a very short intense meaningful few weeks.

Just be serious about whatever you want. Or don't want. Or sometimes want.

You get the idea.

But we don't live in a world where most people are taught such things. And again, the "disconnected" nature of the virtual world makes it easier to give in to certain of the worst parts of our nature. The social feedback is less corrective.

Not yet I don't. Can you be long term casual and short intense meaningful at the same time?

Everything is modular! Build your own life! Do everything and nothing! The world is your oyster.

I must be missing something.

I started online searching for a s type before there was even a world wide web. I can't tell you how many times I would get a disconnect from a given s.
I mean is vanilla dating any different, we just don't do it in bars.

Get back in the saddle and try it again.

On the other side of the coin, it's very prominent, in more than one place, on my profile-- "I'm Not Looking".

Yet still here and there messages from dudes who either scroll straight to "Send Message" and try to pressure me, however gently, to change my mind. -- or refuse to take "No" for an answer.

Few seem to realize that it's just as hard for me to keep writing "No thanks" to meet-ups or "the next level" -- usually not in so many words, -- (because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings or bruise egos) ---as it for them to read it.

But I reply to any and all all messages at first and I'll continue to reply on non-sexual topics but sooner or later, I end up writing: "Thanks but I'm not changing my mind" and / or that I will not describe what I was into when I was active, that I neither write nor read erotic material---

Fortunately these horn-dogs go away on their own, which is always a good thing for me as I try not to lose my cool and I do not "ghost".

But overall and to the topic, there's two sides to everything.

Also my only and best experiences were with those I already knew, even casually than anything on the internet. For me, and speaking strictly for myself, the internet is a great place to buy a used washing machine or some beat-up vintage refrigerator that could be converted into a "Kegerator" but not much else.

A lot of people are seeking something serious and lasting. I, myself, am one of them.

However it takes time to build that. Short flings are okay to a point, to satisfy a craving, but not satisfying in the long run. And it sounds like what happens, one person thinks it is a "Short fling" is something the other person thinks, or hopes, is something lasting but yet it doesn't last. Which leads to dissappointment and heartache.

Indeed. This also falls under the mismatched expectations I mentioned.
