Miles I've walked challenge
Ok I wasn't going to put this up but on reflection the kindness shown me on the Cage has made me change my mind
Many people has asked about me being or getting paralyzed so I will try to explain. Hopefully in not such a boring manner.
Ok here goes
At Thirteen my spine during a growth spurt curved over causing my back to gave a hump. The technical term is Scoliosis. This changed my life dramatically I went from a popular average boy to a outcast in school. Bullied everyday and abused verbally and physically by other children and adults.
I had my first major surgery then. Sadly my spine was to weak to straighten so they placed a huge part of my hip bone into the curve to hold it securely in place. I spent Three months in a plaster cast from my neck covering my entire torso, then a brace for a further nine months after that
School was easier then I was given home studying because I couldn't attend in plaster or brace.
This allowed me to do most things a person could do and for Thirty years I did everything I wanted to do
Hockey, player and coach, Scuba diver, sports everything I wanted to try
This was great until I began to trip, stumble for no reason. I eventually returned to hospital where they decided the bone support was crumbling. They took me back into surgery hoping to break the bone. Straighten the spine and rod either side to keep it stabilised. Sadly during surgery my chord kept losing signal to my legs. So they put the rods over the curve instead of Straightening the spine. This allowed me still to walk even though my balance was not great
Sadly a year later I came in went into the kitchen reached to put the kettle on and my chord gave way. I slid on the floor like a puppet whose strings were cut never to walk again
In hospital my wife of 22 years dumped me saying she couldn't live with a cripple and I never returned to my home again
I now live alone with the help of carers, writing poetry for you fine people
So this is the miles I've walked before I rolled
Everyone's mountain is different but everyone is a mountain. Good luck with your climb
Love and light
