While waiting on parts for the latest project (yeah I know I said I was going to cut back, but I either changed my mind, or I am a lying bastard. You pick which one), I needed something to do. So I put some thought in my philosophy of the Lifestyle.
What it really needed was a title. Something not only to refer it to, but something that represents a simple view of what it stands for. In the end I came up with:
The Art of Surrender
To me, this represents the core of the lifestyle. The focus, as it were. Now this is going to upset a great deal of Dominants, but it is the simple truth: the submissive is the most important part of a given D/s relationship.
The submissive is the art project the Dom/me molds. It is up to us to put the clay on our wheel to spin it about. We have to learn to focus on where we need to put our hands to bring about the beauty the clay can become. It isn't about us. It isn't about getting acclaim for being showy. It isn't about how we mold.
It is about what we mold.
