So, what do worms have to do with making love? More than you think.¹ They practically become one entity.

Earthworm mating occurs on the surface, most often at night. Earthworms are hermaphrodites; that is, they have both male and female sexual organs. The sexual organs are located in segments 9 to 15. Earthworms have one or two pairs of testes contained within sacs. The two or four pairs of seminal vesicles produce, store and release the sperm via the male pores. Ovaries and oviducts in segment 13 release eggs via female pores on segment 14, while sperm is expelled from segment 15. One or more pairs of spermathecae are present in segments 9 and 10 (depending on the species) which are internal sacs that receive and store sperm from the other worm during copulation. Hello Friends,

Many of you know me as a 76-year-old newbie to BDSM who can act like a 16-year-old schoolboy at times. I inadvertently seemed to have stepped on some toes and mashed my toes, too. First, my Dominatrix (Teacher, Coach, and business partner but not my Misstress) is a fantastic person and has kept me out of trouble when I listen to her. Even if I abandon a search for an intimate friend, there is deception, trickery, and fraud when seeking a platonic friendship. My teacher/coach warned me constantly, but finally, I got it. Even a young female neighbor I spoke to warned me when I asked about meeting people online. She may be overly dramatic but when I asked her, "How many people will I meet online searching for a friend who are to be trusted?" She replied, "None of them." So, since moving here a year and a half ago, I still exist like a stranger in a strange land: How can I make potential friends?

The old-fashioned ways seem best: Have someone you trust to introduce you. Someday, I may be able to engage in a club, an activity, or the senior center and socialize. I must continue my caregiving and be patient now with the advice I give to myself, too.

Once upon a time, my lover and I took a stroll in the late evening during a warm May. We looked at the flowers and slowly drew closer. She had a blanket tucked under her arm and spread it on the ground near the Periwinkle carpet. The night air was filled with a beautiful fragrance she selected and adorned herself with. Bonobos, probably yes, although they will then attempt to have sex with you. Orangutans, yes when young, usually no when adult. Gorillas, usually not. Adult chimps, definitely not, unless you know the animal *extremely* well. And you always have the risk that you might give them a nasty disease.

Sometimes, I like to write from personal experience: I change the names to protect the innocent, haha.

There was a man called Horatio who made his way and would speak to anyone about his thoughts. Gradually, he hit upon this topic of "walking alone and being true to yourself," expanded his thinking, and shared that view.  One hot day in late spring, he sat at the fountain in the center of a lovely park that many people enjoyed. Many poets and musicians recited and performed there, and even artists would set up an easel to paint.

An older man stands on the edge of the fountain, shouting out a warning not to follow the military-industrial complex. The crowd before him reacts with every emphatic gesture and pays attention. Horatio passes, and some people listening to the old man turn and follow him instead.

Some weeks later, a crowd would gather whenever Horatio spoke and even chant his name. Suddenly, he realized that although he had striven to walk alone, he had done it uniquely for a time. It was jeopardy.  As the crowd chanted his name, he raised his hand for silence, and the crowd complied. Then, he knelt, and they knelt before him.

He began to speak: "This is all wrong. Start going your way, dear friends. Please do not follow me. 

The crowd chanted, "Your way or no way," continuously for an hour. Then, Horatio wept and ran away, never to be seen again.

The moral of the story? Most people want to belong to something somewhere and need to be a part of it something more significant than themself. Like Leming, they would join together and jump off a cliff, quoting Thelma and Louise.¹

I put this question: Are there limits to Love (this is human for human)? How many loves can you offer? Are you able to successfully love more people simultaneously? If you divide your love between multiple people, is it watered down? Do you believe it is partially emotional, partially physical, and all action reveals it?

First, Within a family comprised of parents, children, siblings, and extended members, as one person in this family, is your ability to diminish (water down) love because of the intrinsic number?

Second, I can and do love multiple people. Does my love end if a friend or even one of my children offends me? No, but if they refuse to stop offending, I am forced to keep my distance.

Third, I believe in romantic love because I am a romantic idealist. I relish the process of meeting and falling in love with (in my case) a woman. I learn all about her, develop a relationship, and make it work to the best of my ability. If a breakup or a divorce modifies the relations, I still love them, even if the reason for the parting was harsh. I do not harbor hate.

Fourth, I am made to be part of a relationship. I am not an island; several songs (even some of my own) point this out. I prefer to devote my emotions and actions to a woman who does the same for me. Can I simultaneously love more than one woman without being torn apart or tearing at the hearts of the women involved? In the 1960s, I lived through my "Paris Time" in New York's Greenwich Village within a culture ahead of its time. I did love more than one girl, and only one was hurt. (She wanted me to move to Sweden, her home, but that wasn't for me then).

If a girl liked me and I did not like her, maybe she would be disappointed, as I was when a girl I wanted didn't like me.

So now, after sailing many times on rough seas with waves of conservatism and liberalism tossing me about, I have arrived at a place I call my home. It is a place where I live, not lawlessly or ignoring the views of others, but a place where I am free to be me. And I hope to become friends with people like me. But I am not a salesman, a politician, a preacher, a guru, a dictator, or a messiah. I will not convince them to be another me.

It sounds trite and dated, but John Lennon's song has more meaning for me now:

The commentary is clear, and the illustrations are very tasteful and informative. Interspersed are excerpts from the original writings translated into English (in my version). This body of information is so useful and applied to our current culture that I find it indispensable that a copy should be gifted to every new couple. I am so liberal that I feel it should be part of Sex Education offered at the college level.
