Unexpectedly, I may choose to apply warm towels and hot stones.

Active submission means you make your submission available to your Dominant. Being present and being open for submission takes practice, and it will look different in every dynamic.  The environment must be set to welcome power exchange where openings for submission happen, and the Dominant feels invited to assert control at any point.  When you need clarification on a task, offer active, open-ended suggestions for future service.  Dominance and submission cannot live in a vacuum.  You have to actively demonstrate that you enjoy your chosen role and offer your partner opportunities to be a part of that exchange with you.

The concept of subtle Dominance involves the ability to influence the way someone behaves or thinks without demand. It’s about presenting a presence of authority, control and/or power without pressure through body language, communication, and decision making. It can be used as a form of manipulation or power exchange as well as to guide and groom others in a nurturing and productive way. The idea of subtle Dominance will indeed be viewed as subjective depending on the dynamic involved. 

I discovered the definition of subtle Dominance while researching different styles of Domination. Quite to my surprise, subtle Dominance does exist and is expressed by people who choose to Dominate in ways that might be deemed difficult to analyze. *Especially, in the early stages of becoming acquainted with a submissive who has a desire to serve. In the beginning of my journey as a Dominant, I imagined that Dominance meant asserting authority or influence in a way that was demanding, direct, and self-centered. I thought it meant having a mean streak, (which I do possess), and a destained dislike towards men (I plead the fifth).
