Updates From THE CAGE Team

We've added a new feature to our Member Search which will be helpful if you are looking for someone close to you.  You can now sort your search results by "Distance", in addition to existing sort options "Last visit" and (length of) "Membership".  Sorting by distance will show you members closest to you first and then in descending order.  Our sort options work well with our many search parameters which include D/s and sexual orientation, gender, and age.  

A small change but hopefully a useful one!

Maximize the reach and exposure of your favourite blog content via our new share button! The share button makes it easy to publish to other platforms all of those moving, funny, and informative blog posts you love.

On mobile devices the share button allows users to share content through installed applications such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Kik, or Gmail. For desktop users clicking on the share button will copy the blog post link to your clipboard, making sharing easier and more convenient than ever before. You'll find the share button at the bottom of each post.

It's easy to opt out if you'd prefer to not have your blog content available to share via this new feature. Simply go to your blog settings and make your blog viewable to registered users only. Only users who have registered with the site will be able to view your blog posts and they will not have the option to share your posts in this way.

We're pleased to announce a new addition to your CAGE menu - a Help section!  You'll find it in the drop down menu at the top of your screen. "Help" is the place to find information about how THE CAGE works, how to use the site, where to go to adjust settings, and much more.  Browse through the sections to find info or use the search bar at the top.  We'll be adding and updating "Help" as THE CAGE evolves.  Please let us know if you would like to see something added or to share your thoughts.

It's our hope that our new Help section will improve your CAGE experience, especially if you are new to our community.  As always, thank you all for your support!

From today (Thursday) through Sunday all members are encouraged to show us your funny, frightening, sexy, and creative Halloween costumes!  Just  create a blog post with CAGE Costume Challenge in the title and upload your photos.  Photos on blogs are normally a Premium only feature but we've opened it up for the next few days so everyone can participate.  If you are on Twitter @thecage.co for a retweet or get us on Instagram at the_cage.co for a share.

We've added a new hide/follow blog menu making it easy to save your favourites and now hide ones you don't like from view!

Some of you may have noticed a small downward arrow has recently appeared next to blog titles.  This is our new hide/follow blog menu.  Simply click the arrow to show the menu and choose your option.  Hiding the blog will remove it from the blog list.   Following the blog will add it to your blog feed.  You can manage your followed and hidden blogs in blog settings as well as under Preferences/privacy.  

If needed, removing certain blogs from view may improve your user experience.  And of course, it's always nice to have all of your favourite blogs in one place. We hope you'll enjoy the new hide feature and hide/follow menu!

During these tumultuous times many of us have strong opinions about the state of the world and the political landscape in which we live.  To date we've seen a very small amount of political content on THE CAGE.  However even these have inspired some intense reactions.  We've listened to your concerns and carefully considered what is appropriate for our community going forward.  We've come to the conclusion that THE CAGE isn't the right place for political debate or opinion pieces, etc.  THE CAGE is a BDSM focused community and we want to make sure it's a place for enjoyment, education, and kinky fun as well as a respite from the rest of your on and off line lives.  So for those of you who've asked, here's where we are drawing the line about politics and THE CAGE:

-politics related to BDSM, sexual freedom, and LGBTQ rights are always relevant and welcomed.

-small political references regarding your daily life, the odd joke, etc., are not a problem.

-blog posts and forum topics that are exclusively political will be flagged and removed respectively.

We've amended our blogging rules to include the following:

"Please keep in mind we are a community focused on BDSM, kink, and sexual freedom. We consider political essays, opinion pieces, etc., to be "off topic" unless they relate to the above."

It's been awhile, right?  We hope you are all safe and well and taking good care of yourselves.  It's also our hope that during these strange times THE CAGE Community has been a place of comfort, support, and maybe even a bit of kinky distraction.

We've been hard at work building new features and making technical improvements to THE CAGE.  Much of this work is behind the scenes but we hope you've noticed some of the tweaks and improvements to your CAGE experience.

One of our most visible changes is with "Preferences".  We've given it an overhaul to make it clearer and easier to use.  This is the place to manage your privacy, alerts, and other general settings. 

In "Preferences", under "Privacy" we've added a new feature to help others see when an individual has last been active.  Your profile will show if you've been active "recently", or within a general time period (week, month, year, etc.,).  This will be helpful if you are looking to make new friends or more.  You can also let other users see an exact time stamp of your last visit. If you choose to activate this, you can set your time stamp to be seen by your contacts only or everyone.  

We'll continue to bring you more improvements and new features  Watch this space!  If you have ideas of what you'd like to see or have feedback on current features, please share them in our suggestion thread in The Forum here.

For those who have asked, we will continue to have our (usually Premium) Chat Rooms open to all for the foreseeable future.  Thank you to everyone who has expressed their appreciation and support for sharing this feature with all.
