Look at her again. Sure, she is the beautiful, cute, gorgeous, sexy woman that you see. But do you see what else she is? Do you see beyond the mask she wears daily. Beyond the skin deep beauty. Beyond the persona and skin costume she offers to those that are blind to facts and reality.
What else is she?
She has grown up in a world that is driven by patriarchy, toxicity, violence, bias, racism and hatred.
A world where a girl becomes a woman, not from the beautiful transition of innocence, but more from a bathing of fire as she becomes aware that the world she has been brought up in is full of danger, abuse, hatred, bullying, assumption, condemnation, discrimination, class outcasting, jealousy, inequality and imbalance.
A world where she is not empowered to be her own woman, but is warned not to dress in certain ways, lest she attract predators.
A world where if she dresses cute and shows too much flesh, she is at risk of rapists who have defence attorneys who use her choice of dress code against her as an excuse on why she was assaulted.
A world where she cannot drink safely, because those same attorneys will use her inebriation as a defence mechanism when defending the rapists they represent.
A world where it’s dangerous to drink in public, because opportunistic predators are waiting to spike her drink when she is unguarded and not aware.
A world where she cannot walk through a park safely, especially if it is dark or she is not accompanied by others.
A world where she cannot visit certain countries, for fear of the very prevalent and real global sex trade.
A world where her own precautionary measures for birth control and STD safety mean zero when a common practise in this world from toxic individuals is the act of stealthing, which is only now beginning to be recognised in some countries as the abusive act of non consensual rape and criminal offence it is.
A world where she needs to protect what she sends to another, for fear of them not being discreet, nor holding their word and using those pictures and videos against her on the internet.
A world where she works in a position and puts in more work, more hours, more dedication and more experience, yet is paid less than her opposing gender counterparts.
A world where fair, justice, respect, protection, honesty are just words whispered on the wind and have no real meaning from most that she encounters.
A world where she speaks her truth out loud in defence of herself and her fellow tribe of the female leaning gender, and is openly and brazenly attacked and bullied by weak individuals who hide behind low intellect and anonymous screens.
A world where she has to be more than just a mere woman to survive.
She is woman, warrior, activist, feminist, survivor and all round superwoman. She has to be all of these, if she is to survive in this world the rest of us have created.
Created by some through actively participating in putrid and toxic acts. Created by many others who simply stand by and ignore what occurs. With change occurring by very few of us that actively take a stand, recognising the failings of our fellow humans and say enough is enough.
Look at her again. Now do you see beyond her skin deep? This is the world she exists in, yet you still only see the beautiful, flirty, sexy woman that she is.
You know why? Because she is fucking strong. Stronger than you could imagine. Perhaps now, you will look at that woman you covet and admire and enjoy, in a different light and respect her for living in a world that she has no choice but to exist in.
She is all woman, but she is also all warrior.
If you see someone getting mistreated, stand up, make noise, create awareness and enact change. One act at a time doesn’t make a change to an entire culture. But it will possibly make a change for the one you help. But also imagine for a moment, if a billion voices cry out and demand change in this world. Or two billion voices. Wouldn’t that be an amazing thing to witness real change occur in our world.
Change that empowers equality, safety, acceptance, love, respect, recognition, support, empowerment and zero judgment.
It all starts with one view, one voice, one choice to no longer accept what was, nor what is.
Are you ready to change? Are you ready to join a movement that is worthy of the world getting behind it.
It all starts with you. To respect another, you must first learn to set standards that you fall on your sword for, and learn to respect yourself. Only then, can you truly begin to respect others…
