Do people actually read the profile?

I've come across this problem quite some times that people often don't read my profile, which is kind of frustrating.
Sure there's people I've talked to that actually took the time to read it, but the maturity I've encountered didn't. I took time to work on my profile and update it after some time, depending on how things change around me or about me.
I sometimes question why I put do much time and effort into my profile when people just ignore it

Do you mean, people are contacting you, and messaging you, And their messages are clearly against what you have stated in your profile?

For example, you say there that you are NOT into one night stands and want something more long-term, so are people contacting you for quick one-and-done hookups?

I typically just read blogs and forum posts; If I want to contact someone or ask them something privately outside of the forums then I will check out their profile but I don't generally just browse profiles.

Of course we do! It would be rude not to check and see who we are talking to and what they are looking for. Um what was your name again?

There will always be people who do not read your profile. That's just part of the overall experience. Many try to take the easiest way to meeting their wants.
Considering those who do read profiles, it may help to add some more specific details to your profile. No need to share anything you are uncomfortable divulging, per se, but your profile says quite a bit without really saying anything that would distinguish you from others. Most people at least claim to enjoy reading and everyone likes listening to music. What do you read specifically? What is your favorite kind of music? What are you going to school for? If you feel more adventurous with sharing, what has your kink experience been like? Is there anything in particular that you are drawn to?
You have a photo of yourself which helps immensely to draw attention, but will also decrease how often your profile is read.

At this point, you basically have the exact same profile as a thousand other users, and reading the same profile over and over becomes exhausting. I'm not going to claim that it will fix your problems outright, but adding some more specific details can make the difference in attracting more invested attention.

Most people don't read profiles. When i post I'm gay and all i hear from are mistresses who want to dominate me. Then again most, if not all, are professional money seekers. I would try serving a mistress, but not interested in subsidizing her.
And seems less like many of the male masters want the same thing...money.

Believe it or not, we Doms get the same problem.

Both here and on Fet, I have it marked that I am married (although Fet has a much better way to say so than here, something Cage should look into). So I find it funny when some s types go off the deep end when I mention my wife.

Now one thing I will say, I also am somewhat amused when I mention something in a given person's profile and then get accused of "mining".

But then, sometimes I am easily amused.

I do read profiles, in fact I read yours not that long ago and liked it icon_razz.gif

Why did I like it?
Your profile pictures are cute, you were clear about your non BDSM hobbies, reading gets an instant like alone! On your profile you invited readers to message you to have meaningful conversations and you set preliminary boundaries. I also thought whoever you find here is lucky as you state in the future you'd relocate to them if need be. .And finally while looking at your pics and reading your profile I assumed you loved doing puzzles. I almost sent you a message.

In my experience, anyway... not really.

But then again one can't keep count of those who see "Not Looking" twice in the "About Me" section and silently move on.

So... What's left are those who look at the photo gallery, if any, and either skim or skip to the bottom where the "Send Message" button is and hammer away on the old keyboard.

-------------------------------------------

The net result, while I do have about 3 or 4 pleasant "just convo" friendships in here or via email as we have been conversing for a while now and change to the email venue.

...And the rest? Those who skip the all-important "Not Looking" and try me anyway-- they eventually figure out that I am not changing my mind, (not any time soon at least) -- and go away on their own.

Getting such messages doesn't annoy me, and as for them, they'll get over it.

I answer just about all messages and I am clear from Jump where I stand.
