The D type should figure out why they are being a brat. Finding the root cause will help one handle (as stated above) a brat.

Having open, honest, transparent communication is key. Each and every submissive is different. Thus, how to handle the situation is specific to their personality, wants, needs, and desires. Also, each s type has a range to their submissiveness that changes. Dependent on mood, life situation, and so on.

Overtime we get desensitized to things as it is repeated. Which means the punishments will need to be changed up throughout the dynamic.

It takes a kind, patient, and secure in who they are D type to be able to handle a brat. It’s a trial and error situation specific to the dynamic partners. The D type needs to be very observant of their s type so that damage to their emotional/mental health doesn’t occur during the punishments.

Simple way is to quit talking to them.

My not so humble opinion is brats are attention wanters. They think it is all cutesy and shit to be like that. So don't give them the attention til they act properly.

I'm sorry still learning. May I ask what a brat is exactly in BSDM? I know children can be brats, especially if they are spoiled and they act out if they don't get their way. Is it the same thing?

Do some doms like bratty behavior?

What qualifys as being a brat in the lifestyle?

And most importantly why are they being brats? We all should strive to be a good girl or boy if we are treated very well and fairly.

TwinkleEyes is exactly correct. You cannot handle, deal with, punish every sub the same way. Not every brat will respond well to something that others do.
Know your sub, what inspires them to be better, what they are attempting to get when being really bratty, what you want from them in that moment. These things matter and will change from moment to moment.

TwinkleEyes is absolutely correct. Communication is the key. Also, brats want structure and consistency. If we are bratting, and in a way that is not playful, it is because something is off.

Topeka...NOOOO. Don't do the stop talking. Silent treatment can actually be the worst response and trigger an increase in the behavior and attachment issues. Communication of acceptable behavior, explanation of the consequence, and execution. Also provide an opportunity for the brat to share.

While I'm sure descriptions vary, generally speaking brats are subs that like to intentionally push the dom's buttons. My understanding is that brats like to feel the dominant's control through their reactions. An ex of mine who described herself as a bit of a brat liked being really sassy to me because she liked the way I would just look at her disapprovingly without getting angry, but others like a firmer hand. As with all things it varies from person to person.

And yes, some doms like brats. Either because they enjoy having an excuse to exercise their control over them, or for some more nuanced reason. In my case I think I liked having someone know enough about me to be able to press my buttons a bit. It felt intimate.

I'm sure brats or doms more experienced with brats will enhance or correct my definition.
