Maximize the reach and exposure of your favourite blog content via our new share button! The share button makes it easy to publish to other platforms all of those moving, funny, and informative blog posts you love.

On mobile devices the share button allows users to share content through installed applications such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Kik, or Gmail. For desktop users clicking on the share button will copy the blog post link to your clipboard, making sharing easier and more convenient than ever before. You'll find the share button at the bottom of each post.

It's easy to opt out if you'd prefer to not have your blog content available to share via this new feature. Simply go to your blog settings and make your blog viewable to registered users only. Only users who have registered with the site will be able to view your blog posts and they will not have the option to share your posts in this way.

We hope you enjoy our new blog share feature!

Morley(sub female){Max Sterne} - For clarity, does this mean that members that have their blog "public" ANY member can share their blog post via the platforms you mention above? Or just the Blog poster themself?

Morley(sub female){Max Sterne} - Meaning if I wrote a blog post, my settings are public, Joe blow on the site can share MY BLOG POST to anyone of their friends etc on other platforms?

Or is it just the blog poster that can?

Jack in the box - Excellent point.

I assumed this feature was so I could share my own blog, should I choose to - if others can share my blog, off site - yeah, no - not something I would want. 🖓

Morley(sub female){Max Sterne} - So, if this new feature means the above... I ask, "If a Member does NOT choose "Share my blog with Registered Members only" option in preferences.. is there a disclaimer to say "you are agreeing by not choosing your blog to be private or just for registered members only, that you give permission that any member here can share your blog post (via a link) through outside platforms??

Satindragon{Not Lookin} - I just changed my preferences. I am the only one who shares my stuff.

HGB(sub female){Scottish M} - Just put registered useres only too. Not liking this.

Purple Freesia - I suppose it would be a compliment if someone were to share my blog; however, I don't have confidence with the recent nonsense that everyone would share with good intentions.

Being able to see if I am online is about as public I want my stuff to be.

Satindragon{Not Lookin} - A lot of us share things here we would never share anywhere else.

Villanelle(staff)Inline member - Like other social media platforms if the blog is set to public you can share any post you find compelling. If you have your blog set to registered users only then the share button will not be usable. It's important to remember that anything you post publicly, be it to registered users or to the general public, can always be copy/pasted to other forums online. The goal with this feature is to conveniently share with a wider audience some of the amazing content that our members have published here on THE CAGE . We completely get that some members will want to discourage that (hence the registered users option) but many who publish content will appreciate having it shared with a wider audience.

HGB(sub female){Scottish M} - So how about that incognito feature, that's what keeps some from logging in and could read blogs when off. So now that I'm only for registered users only others who want to read have to log on to read, in turn get messaged etc. This isn't Facebook please don't turn it into it.

Heres what I will liken this to - (my opinion).
I used to go to a private bdsm club - what happened in that club, stayed in that club. Should I choose to tell my friends what I did the night before, it was up to me - and who I told was up to me.
This feels like the owners of the club have just announced "some people can open the windows".
This is a very specific arena, where people come to feel safe - to learn, to grow, to share - "within this setting".
Although I understand the intent - I feel the "share" option, in any context, outside of this setting, is making alot of people uncomfortable - myself included. Yes, anything online can be copied/pasted - but until now, no one has offered an open invitation to do so.

Thats my 2 cents - as a long time paying member of this club.

Villanelle(staff)Inline member - Thank you for the feedback everyone! A few comments -

@hisgoodbunny, we have no plans to offer an incognito option on THE CAGE. You can restrict your profile and blog content to registered users but there is no way to be invisible.

@Jack in the box, THE CAGE is a public forum with much of it accessible to visitors and all of it accessible to anyone who registers. It's a welcoming, inviting space but it is not a private one.

Sharing, commenting, and otherwise responding to content is intrinsic to the nature of every social platform. As we state in our help section on privacy:

"THE CAGE is designed to be open, friendly, and kink positive. Therefore, you won’t see invisibility options or ways to entirely hide your activity. This means you should always be careful to ensure that you are comfortable with what you are sharing, be it location, work details, and of course, photos. You can restrict viewing of your profile and blog to registered users only in your blog settings (blog) and in “Preferences” (profile). Registered users are individuals who have created a profile and verified a phone number in order to access the site. If you choose not to restrict viewability in this way, anyone visiting THE CAGE can view your profile and read your blog."
