Rose's Thorns.

A general pondering.
1 month ago. Jun 19, 2020, 1:18 AM

Im curious if anyone else has become tempted to delete their account in recent days? There seems to be a lot of anger in general out there at the moment and i get why, but its like a pressure cooker.

LilAmethyst(sub female){DaddyDrago} - Sir and I deleted our social media accounts in July of last year. BEST DECISION EVER! 😉

rosethorn(sub female) - I hadn't gone onto it since September... i thought it was bad then. Its like a huge void everyone is screaming into. Remember when it used to be about what your aunt got up to not the latest political gaf.

LilAmethyst(sub female){DaddyDrago} - EXACTLY!!!!! For both of us our empath souls can't take all the drama that FB seems to exude anymore.
This is the ONLY platform we frequent. Which is rather peaceful compared to FB. Even though its pretty peaceful here we need to step away at times. As we can feel everything energetically.

rosethorn(sub female) - I started to find that energy was starting to effect me and was coming out in me being snappy and i don't want to be snappy but then if you stay away from the drama you get told you don't care x

LilAmethyst(sub female){DaddyDrago} - OMG! I can totally relate. The drama causes me to react in less than healthy ways for me and those around me. So I choose to do what's best for my own health and sanity.
If someone tries to make me feel "guilty" and like I don't "care". Well that's on them. Its a boundary for me and I choose me first over drama. I no longer need other's to understand my choices. They can be butt hurt all they want simply because I choose to NOT be involved in any sort of drama. 😝

rosethorn(sub female) - Wish i could xxx need to get better at that

FeistyMinx(sub female){Protected/} - I was on here, Instagram, FB, and watching news when I decided that I was tired of chaos and migraines. I do receive notifications from the apps However must of the time I don't respond unless I know the person and I know that they're not into political drama. On here is where I mostly blog at just because I don't want to see the pop-ups on my screen for anything political. I rarely watch the news just because that drama, world agitation, chaos is going to happen or not with me watching or not. I'm not going to delete my account but if there's a blog I click on and I notice it's about political drama then I click the back button and go to the next blog. ALSO that's reason for me to have started following certain people's blogs on here because I'll read my list of followed blogs before I really even take time to go through the others and by the time I'm finished reading the ones I follow, those people start posting new stuff OR I have found something to do. I hope this helps.

rosethorn(sub female) - Thank you. That does help. Its like we have all forgotten the term click bate.... its really not helping my mental wellbeing atm. Everything is decisive. Its exhausting. Im tempted to delete it because i once its on the internet it doesn't come down and I'm becoming more aware of that, something thats fine now or even if I put something bdsm related up i could get crucified for in ten yrs. Its really anxiety inducing. No one is allowed to be human and mess up and learn

FeistyMinx(sub female){Protected/} - I know that exact feeling! On FB, old friends, friends, family and now classroom mom's, so I created an Instagram account. I forgot to make it private at first and so friends found me 🤦🏻‍♀️ and so did a bunch of weirdos 😳🙄.
So I made a second account and that's politics, weirdos, friends from Instagram LOL, I rarely check it. My original is now private with friends and family LOL 😆 and a lot of pages that are animal and pet related because that's what my 8yr old son and I watch and laugh at while falling to sleep. I only check it at night and most of the time it's animal pages requesting to follow. On here, I can actually be myself and post what I want without being judged 😁

rosethorn(sub female) - Thats how i feel about being on here too. Everyone seems to be judged for everything now its a saf state of affairs in general.... i think i just need some positivity x

behindamask(dom male) - Any more social media i treat kinda like TV, i can always change the channel. Choose friends, and ignore mostly what I don't what to see. Might be why i mostly follow fun things on social media, it is what i make of it.

rosethorn(sub female) - I don't think the algorithms help, if you're catching up on something thats all you see for the next few weeks i include you tube in that too
1 month ago
behindamask(dom male) - The algorithms do not help. Sometimes I think it is nothing more than a random number generator. For example i want to watch something, like Bob Ross, and it will find it, but the related videos have nothing to do with painting, other times search engines change spellings, and/or the order of numbers, i am looking for a computer part, not a car, something a search engine should be fairly good at. Though it is rather entertaining to see all the random things netflicks thinks a word has to do with. But yet trying to drown out all the pain is rather hard.

rosethorn(sub female) - I agree sometimes its baffling what else a search can come up with

Bunnie - I have cut out all media pertaining to “news” and “world events.” I realised that I am useless to anyone if I’m not my best... and feeling anger and hatred and fear is not me at my best. So I made a very conscious decision to cut out all the noise... including any political discussions either around me which I don’t take part in, or with friends wanting to discuss anything. Please don’t misunderstand... I’m a huge advocate for respectful discussion and communication... but I think we’re now far beyond that.

So I’m working on coming back to myself and my heart. Getting back out into nature has helped a lot.

An important lesson I have learned through all of this, is that some people will fight to no end to try to make you just like them. Some people feed off anger and hatred... so they need to create it to feed. Although I can empathise with their plight, I chose to no longer feed them. I don’t believe lasting change comes from anger and fear... or “eye for an eye” mentality. I believe it comes from love.

So my journey has become around, instead of loving the world for what it once was... or what it “could/should” be... trying to learn to love it as it is right now. And I need to have a very open heart to do that... so that is what I’m working on.

rosethorn(sub female) - Im starting to realise we are beyond that too at the moment and im finding it odd. I wouldn't take it in a negative way xxx i get the anger and hatred thing and i think it was starting to mess with me and I needed to become more aware of that. For what it is now ... wise words but challenging xxxx

rosethorn(sub female) - Just to say thank you for all your responses without calling me all sorts i can only imagine the response this would have gotten on another platform xx

FeistyMinx(sub female){Protected/} - Just reinerating what Bunnie said and what I was taught, when you're around, discussing, thinking, watching or etc. negativity you're inviting more of it. When you're around, discussing, thinking, watching or etc. positivity you're inviting more of it. That can be for anything.

rosethorn(sub female) - See personally i think thats where some social media has failed because the algorithms show more of the same its not impartial, unbiased or fact checked. You see something and then more of the same. I don't like the adverts either x

FeistyMinx(sub female){Protected/} - That's when you watch a DVD🙌🏻😁

LongerJohnny(dom male) - I have never been in that situation because I don't do social media. I may be the last person in the world who does not use FB, I have one friend on kik, which I'm told is universally loathed anyway.
(kik, not my friend. She's great.)
And I have a few contacts on Hangouts, all of whom I could just call on my camera. Over the years I had signed up for and used others like SC and IG and (kill me now) Tinder*, but only long enough to never check them until someone asks "hey, do you use...?" By then I have no recollection of ever having done so, or no hope of remembering PWs and UNs and such. I do my social media-ing here and places like it but several months ago I did stop using Cage and Fet for a while because I was tired of the dumb. I didn't delete my account on either though, so does that count?
*In my desperately needed defense I only did so because there was this woman... Yes, sometimes I am really just that single.

The Velveteen Slave(sub female){my heart} - I'm with LongerJohnny. I have never had social media. I do not have facebook, instagram, or anthing like it. I have hangouts to talk to friends and family. I have never felt the need to let the world into my own private life, I dont need or want other people's opinions about my private decisions, and I really don't have a thing for bragging. I certainly don't need to try to keep up with everyone else's minutia, so the events i'm present for are that much more memorable and special. I'm active on a few forums like this, and two petsites i've got one of the longest active accounts on... one for *cough* 19 years, and one for ten. I've whatsapp because of work, but I have notifications *off* and I look at it twice a day.
I limit myself to news once a day. Anything MASSIVE and someone will call me.
Sociology studies are clear that social media use contributes to depression, anxiety, and a slew of other negative outcomes. I've got enough of it in my life without adding <3

Someday when I finally live with my forever home I HOPE to be able to put down the g-d phone and computer for a day or two a week. That would be nice.

Lion(dom male){Hazel Eyes} - Only had Facebook, deleted it couple of years ago and I have never been happier. No more seeing stupid posts, seeing false information, just isn't worth it. My life will never revolve around a tweet.🤪
