What Does the Seeking Functionality Do?

This new Seeking functionality lets anybody else on THE CAGE know that you're seeking a one-on- one connection. You choose what that connection is; you can be looking for a close friend, a mentor, a power exchange relationship, an online play connection, and more. The Seeking functionality allows you to add context to your desire, letting others on THE CAGE know exactly what you're looking for. When you turn on the Seeking functionality, your "Seeking" status will become visible on your profile. Anyone viewing your profile will be able to see that you're Seeking.

It isn't just a mark on your profile, though. You'll also appear in the Seeking section of THE CAGE. When someone uses the "Find Friends" functionality on THE CAGE and you'll meet their requirements, you'll show up in the results list.

The people who have most-recently turned on their "Seeking" functionality will also show up in the main menu's Seeking list.

Essentially, it tells everyone on THE CAGE that you're looking to make a one-on-one connection, and it invites them to reach out if they think they'd be a good fit!

How to Turn on the Seeking Functionality?

Like everything about THE CAGE, the Seeking functionality is crafted to be easy to use. When you visit your own profile, you'll see text that says "Are you seeking new connections? Let others know to help you stand out". There's a toggle switch next to that text. Simply toggle that toggle switch to "on", and you're now actively Seeking.

This will then open up a freeform text field that allows you to type out exactly what you're seeking. You don't have to worry about being confined into specific boxes. Describe exactly what it is you're seeking at this current moment. You do not have to type anything into this box in order to turn on the Seeking functionality, but it'll certainly help you make better connections if you do!

You can turn off "Seeking" at any point. If you need to take a social break or you end up finding what you're looking for, you can simply toggle this switch off at any time.

Tips to Make the Most of the Seeking Functionality

If nobody ever views your profile, it won't matter if you have the "Seeking" functionality turned on. You'll be letting others know that you're seeking, but people have to know you exist first!

With that in mind, staying active and being a positive presence on THE CAGE will get you the friendly attention you're looking for. When people see your original ideas on the forums, they'll click into your profile and see what you're looking for. If they happen to meet it, well, they'll probably reach out!

To make the most of turning on the Seeking functionality, I'd recommend:

Add additional information to your Seeking request. You can simply mark that you're Seeking without adding any context, but that won't help others who might see your profile. Add context about what you're seeking. Otherwise that dream fit might think they don’t fit your desires, and they’ll close out your profile.
Ensuring your profile is accurate. Once someone sees that you're seeking, they need to figure out if they're a good fit with you. To help them out, make sure your profile is accurate. Who are you as a person? Why are you seeking what you're seeking? Who would be the perfect fit to reach out to you?
Adding a profile picture that expresses who you are. Your profile picture is a window into "you". Make sure it reflects what you want to be saying.
