I’m currently in an online Dom/sub relationship and looking to advance my skills as a sub. What’s the best dildo for oral deep throat training?

I’m in the UK, so would be preferable that I could find it around for purchase to the UK.

I’ve seen on a couple of forums elsewhere that it’s not that great to use a penis dildo for training to DT as it’s not like the real thing and the environment of using with a partner

Hi NewbieEm,

I think perhaps there’s a few factors to consider. Are you training specifically to be able to deep throat your Dominant? If so then maybe he could find one that resembles his size, and suggest that. If not, then an average size is probably a good size to begin with.

With anything in this lifestyle that requires acclimating to... I like to suggest starting small and building up slowly.

A second factor to consider is how do you want to/have been told to learn to do it? If it’s laying on your back with your head back over the edge of the bed (which as a beginner I would highly recommend, because that position opens your throat up beautifully), then one that is easy to handle would be most suitable.
However, if the preference is for you to be on your knees, then one with a suction cap base that can allow for it to be stuck to a mirror would more than likely be more suitable.

Google “dildos“ and you will find a plethora of available toys. Maybe even try googling “deepthroat dildos” and see what shows up. You may find not only stores, but some porn or tutorials that may help to give you some ideas.

For initial training, you should start with a smaller size dildo, and one that is easily manipulated by hand. You want to be able to gently push it to your "gag" zone, and "tickle" around that point until you get used to it. It doesn't even have to be that large. It's more important that it be long enough to reach the back of your throat, so you can gently manipulate it to relax your reflexes.
Your body has a gag reflex, that has developed over millions of years, to keep you from drowning. It will take some time and work to move this aside.
Don't worry about any of the other skills until you have fully mastered the gag reflex, and have it well under control.
My personal opinion is to stay away from suction cup dildos, as they have to be mounted on something. A hand dildo can be used anywhere.
I have trained many subs by having them practice in the car, on the way to somewhere. (It's 8 hours by road from Tucson to San Diego, or L. A. and 6 hours to Las Vegas) I have had subs practice on these trips nearly every time we make them. Doing this allows gentle, patient practice, and resting time between attempts, until the sub learns the skill and gets relaxed. It goes from being a "enforced lesson" to being "just time to play and experiment" and is much more enjoyable for the sub. Watching a sub train herself in oral skills is also very pleasant, as well
When your sub finally reaches the gag control milestone, it's should be a time for celebration. When she proudly announces "HEY! Look what I can do now!", it should result in lots of praise and affection. I think of them as if they were little puppies, just learning a new skill. When they succeed, they get lots of hugs, cuddles, and praise.

I always try to make the reward special, for a new skill. Subs should be encouraged to expand their horizons, and when they achieve this, the Doms should be generous in their rewards.

First, thanks to BikerWilly for his excellent commentary. Spot on, Sir!

Second, I recently attended a -highly informative- zoom video conference on this very topic, taught by a British Dom, TheVoice, and his girl. It not only focused on the girl's skills and how to train them, but also went in depth on the Dom's side of making training fun and sexy and how he or she can act as coach in various aspects. Couple's team work that is hot and fun, essentially.

The class was A+ amazing--and I cannot give enough praise towards attending if he does it again soon. I don't want to be spammy, but he goes by TheVoice on fet events. A ton of not-very-obvious to the naked eye information was shared.

I will also say that the earliest gag-reflex training and exploration is best done w/ a simple finger (the girl's) initially. If she does a tiny bit of this daily, that gag reflex will come to be understood. Then hop right into Willy's sequence for great results actually moving that reflex around..

i can see a middle answer on this one, i don't think it's a black or white answer?

Personally, i go with those who say "it's not that great to use a penis dildo for training to DT as it’s not like the real thing and the environment of using with a partner," but i am aware that what's right for me is not universally 'right.'

So, qualifying that this is my personal feelings, being able to throat an erect (or otherwise) penis has both physical and psychological factors. my head and emotional space cannot get engaged when i try to use toys on myself. i'm a bottom with sub and it misses, even violates something in me to try and use toys on myself, as though i am topping myself. i'm not a top, i cannot 'top' myself. And for me, that's a vital component for being able to physically take a cock in my throat.

Taking a cock in the throat (or anywhere else for me) is about connecting to the person attached, it's not just a physical feat. For me, it's also very much a responsive act and my ability to do so can be very affected by my Top. i believe the opposite is true as well, i.e., that what the Top/Dom experiences is conversely dependent on Their bottom sub, but then, i look for symbiotic connection, not dictatorial as often seems to happen in D/s dynamic.

Taking a cock in my throat is as much an emotional/mental/psycological feat as it is physical, for me they are inextricably connected, so a self administered dildo is never going to be ab le to 'train' me.
