ButterfliesAndCuffs​(sub female)​{LJ} - Yes they’re real. Called dungeons usually not clubs. There is a local one that my Sir and I go to frequently. The books probably exaggerate reality but they are an amazing place to observe different scenes and meet people. Some like the one we go to even offer classes during the week.

TopekaDom​(dom male) - Usually they are located in rather large cities. Even here in the Midwest of the USA, where people buy bibles by the case to thump around, you can find them. Kansas City has like 2 or 3. Little podunk Topeka of 125K people has none.

Going to a good dungeon or convention is not a big a thing as the books make them out to be. It is more like Shriners only without the funny hats and more leather.
