Understanding me.

I am me, I am growing, I am learning. I love and I hold close. I have opened myself and let the blood pool on the floor, I have let myself know who I am. I am a servant/slave. I am not powerless I am priceless.

Well today I spent most of the morning out in the yard, did some major Weeding. Being away for two weeks caused the weeds to run amuck.  Pig weed, sand burrs, and Mexican thistle to name a few.  I took to the pig weed first, simple easy weed to pull, and used the weed eater on the bigger ones.

But the devil in my yard is the sand burrs.  They vine out and spread like crazy. The seed pods are evil.  They can puncture tires, if you've never stepped on one barefoot, count yourself lucky.  When one enters the fat pad of your heel, the pain shoots through your body, clenching your throat shut. Because you do not scream.  Then you stand there looking at this tiny monster jabbed into your heel.  You don't want to touch it, but you take hold and pull. Oh God that hurts. It throbs in pain and a little bloods dips from the puncture hole.

So I stand put in the yard. They have invaded completely. I can go to each individual plant find the center and slowly twist and pull and dispose. But this summer must have been prime weather for their growth. So all I can do is keep them off my shoes and out of the house, so shoes off at the door.  The true way to defeat them is to use a blow torch and blast them. Then spray the area with a killer.

I continued to weeding and looked down at my legs, covered in dirt and slaughtered weeds and a few stickers embedded into my flesh, not too painful as they were not sandburrs but another breed softer and sticks to everything. Little bastards. So I got them knocked down. Hopefully they die off soon.

Then I dug up the potatoes, first time growing them, doesn't get very many, it's ok. It's trail and error with gardens. I pulled up some onions and as I was about to leave the garden I noticed my sugar snap peas, they had survived several hail storms and a herd of rabbits, they hadn't grown very tall on the fence, and some of the weeds were above my waist. But there they were.  Perfect little pods. A picked a few and ate them as I walked back to the house.

The tomatoes also have had issues. The big ones have not produced yet and we might have a freeze this week.  But the little cherry tomatoes were ripe so I gathered them and brought them in.

Not many flowers this year. But the mint and lavender are doing nicely.  They survived the heat and wind.

Might have snow this week, who knows what's going on in 2020. Lol.

Heart of Persephone(sub female) - Now it's rather barren and brown. Some wild sunflowers are in bloom. The lavender, does smell lovely when smacked with the weed eater.

SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕} - We grow potatoes too...plant them just a few inches below the surface. Once the green pops though the dirt, cover them with more compost. Repeat this process till your container is full. Keep them evenly watered and harvest the potatoes after the green completely dies off, I mean dead, done, not a lick of green on the plant.

slaveMikayla(sub female){MstrJ } - Sand burrs are, indeed, the devil. I had no idea that we had any in the area until I'd walked through something they must have been hiding in and they were alllllll up in my skirt on the inside which meant all over my legs. NOT CUTE~
My poor kiddo freaked out because she had never experienced the like and they were all over her leggings too. *fun times*

<3 I love hearing about your garden.
